We've just employed a new member of staff who is shorter than 5ft and petite stature which is causing all sorts of issues with kit. Does anyone have any advice on where I can find The below-

STC boots - smaller than size 3!

Smaller size brush cutter harness. It's totally loose around her top and shoulders.

Extra extra small hi viz.

I've spent a lot of time googling this issue!

Not strictly tree work but we require 1 (possibly 2) general estate workers from the end of Feb. This is initially a temp job until the end of October but could be permanent for the right person.

Main duties will be grass cutting and generally keeping the public areas of the estate tidy. Brushcutter, chainsaw and fencing experience would be ideal as well as an interest in estate work and a positive, can do attitude!

Other duties will include working on event builds, general maintenance work, some gardening type jobs, litter picking and anything else that comes up!

The Bryce is awesome, but expensive and heavy. So you'll need a tractor to tow it around... Sort of defects the object. I've heard bad things about him too, but never met him.

Never tried a vector.

I know a lot of the top companies use the Protech machine. Supposed to be really good and you can just about tow it legally.

I had my husqvarna 353, dewalt drill and various other tools stolen out of my truck in worthing at some point on Thursday night/Friday morning. Smashed the window and rummaged around. It was parked about 3 metres from my bedroom window!

Apparently a few vans have been targeted around here... So eyes peeled and lock your kit up!

£10 worth... Some excellent prizes... Even if I don't know what half of the climbing kit is?!

You have play with the air pressure a bit. Should be around 100psi I think, bit the main depth gauge is on the tip, few minutes playing around and it fires them perfectly, unless you hit a knot!

Most posts must be similar density as that's the way it seems to work.

Just brought one of those. So far so good. We used to have a similar one but the staples just pulled out. This one fires barbed staples, saves a lot of time and my elbow!

Pricey, but worth it.

I'd be interested to hear how you did it with the oil drum, do you have any pics or tips type of wood used etc. Its something ive been thinking of but like you don't want to fork out loads to start with.

The drums are working really well, there's lots of ideas and tips on the Internet... But I basically went with this

The demand slowed down and have managed to keep up. It's nice bit of extra money.

I use any off cuts we get, small stuff we don't used for logs, about as thick as your wrist. Only hardwood, and it needs to be dry.

Also... Top tip... Don't do it too close to the road of the police might turn up!

Thanks for the replies, I did see a thread similar to this before but couldn't seem to find it again.

I've heard about cutting them then rapping them in something to keep them form drying to quick. Might just cutting them the day before, leaving no time to split.

They need to be rings with bark on.

I've been asked to make some rings about 2in think, 12 inch diameter for a wedding next year. I'm just looking for some advice on stopping them cracking, and what sort if oil should I use to treat them. Or is there a better wood that won't split as much. I know it's quite a simple thing compared to some of the amazing creations on here but any advice would be great. Thanks. Nick

Hi everyone.

So a few months ago I thought it would be fun to try and make charcoal, it was a success, so I made some more and more and now I find my self selling it to a local green grocers, pub etc faster than I can make it in my 44gallon drum.

I've made a new drum but i hear they are pretty inefficient.

My question is, where do I go from here? I don't really want to fork out a grand on kiln just yet, so is there anything I can do next to increase production?

What about Carving you and your Mrs's names instead of Wedding? At least then you could stick them in the garden once you're done with them? Just a thought!!

Too many letters, tgeoriginal idea was too direct people in to my brothers wedding easily, it did the job and then the venue bought it off me.

But they now want a couple more. All good.

Yeah the heart isn't the best heart shape, but I ran out if time. At least you knew it was a heart... Just.

They can add what they like to it after they pay!

Just thought I'd update and show what I came up with. Not brilliant and I could've spent more time finishing it off, but it has got me a request for at least 2 more from a wedding venue!

Any tips on that? Best wood? Best finish etc? I used a blow torch to blacken it but would that wear off after a while?

Now that looks like something I can do! Although, 'finish defining the letter faces' sounds easier than it probably is

Yeah a few of those letters came out a bit smaller than the others. I wish I had some bigger wood to use but unfortunately don't! I like that design but how do you get in to the 'corners' to finish it? Chisel? or another special to? i.e with out leaving curves with end of the bar?
