Sorry it's the pro contactor good machine.
is that a ryetec?
-
Riko Expert is the machine I would choose for your application
Do you have a link? can't find it on the alpine tractors website.
-
thanks logan that was the most helpful reply so
far.
planning on going to yams tomorrow to have another look at both of them, hopefully I will then be closer to making a decision
-
don't think that I want a dual horizontal &vertical version because I want a larger capacity of 16-18t.
l also don't need a road toe because I was thinking of 3pt linkage on a fergie 35 and will only be used at the yard or down in the farm wood.
Wood diameter up to around 30inches and 18 inches long

I keep changing my mind. I was leaning towards a horizontal splitter but now im thinking more about vertical . how do you get on big 2foot rings on vertical splitters because I do like the idea of the floating 4 way wedge on the horizontal . I think I would have a single wedge on a vertical.
still also unsure on picking between riko and ryetec, I know that both are Italian made and the ryetec is a little bit more expensive I think

so two days , two totally different types of wood.
last Friday was nice straight softwood pine about 15 inch diameter.
today on hardwood s at around 18-24 inch diameter.
all is billeted to 18 inch length ready for the boiler.
so I was hoping on people's opinion on the best sort of splitter, horizontal or vertical based on people's experience. what are the pros and cons of both types.

after a little day felling corsican pine today im learning towards a horizontal splitter because I think it will be easier splitting bigger rings.
so which leads me to choosing between a riko or ryetec? any suggestions or pointers?
-
I have pretty much decided its down to those two.
it's more a decision of what type, would a mf35
lift a 16t horizontal? also have bigger tractor s but would not want to tie them up with the logs.
also a far price difference between the horizontal and vertical version s

Good Afternoon,
After a good day at the LAMMA show yesterday, I came home deciding that I need a log splitter, I need to split wood of around 50cm length and various diameters for my log boiler.
After having a good look around I decided that the best two that I saw were the RIKO & Ryetec, both from Yorkshire so even better. But did I miss any good splitters?
I was thinking about a 16T ish capacity.
The things that I just cant decide is to go vertical or horizontal; and to go RIKO or Ryetec. What's peoples thoughts? Price wise the Ryetec was a little dearer, but would not be a deal breaker if I could do a good deal.
I think the main decision is the H or V splitter, please help and discuss.
Cheers

I agree that insulation is key and with a newbuild building regs make sure that it is up to a high standard.
I have experience with a wood stove in our current house doing all the heating with a backburner, and to be honest its a dirty old thing to have in the middle of the house. cold weather I'll get through a barrow of logs a day. I'm sure a better stove in a better insulated house would be better but with a clean piece of paper I think I fancy a boiler and batch burn as I think it would fit in with our lifestyle better and don't have to cart wood through the house on s regular basis
does anyone have a gasification boiler up in the Yorkshire area they would be happy for me to have a look at, I think I'm heading towards eco Angus because of price and simplicity but if rhi payments were coming for sure I may be tempted to go German or Austrian

thought forum users would ha
ve a bit more to comment on wood boilers, must be stoves that are using all the firewood produced.
-
I thought this would be as good place as any to post
I am looking to heat my newbuild farmhouse on wood, using a wood gasification boiler because I'm in south Yorkshire so s smoke free zone
I have found the following three and wondering if any of you had experience or knew of anything else?
probably looking at 20-30 kw with buffer tank
1) HDG - built in Bavaria like a tank! strong and solid
2) Solafocus - Austrian and technically advanced, good or a bad thing? it will even automatically light if required
3) eco Angus- from Poland, looks a basic beast what could be called blacksmith built, basic and cheap
have I missed any? any info good or bad

I have never trier it in my woodburner because I have plenty of hardwood to go at, so not bothered with it really.
