Thanks both for the replies. Struggling to get a picture linked but fingers crossed this will work:
Paul, the tree officer advised that if we applied for 'cyclical' (presumably every couple of years) permission to perform a crown reduction this would most likely be approved.

Good evening all.
Could anyone offer any advice as to whether the tree pictured here is 'too' close to the house? The picture isn't particuarly well scaled but the tree trunk is roughly in line with the door and the distance from door to trunk is just over 6 meters.
The house is a new build, the tree has a TPO on it. The house was built taking into account the root protection area. The tree is a purple maple and is approx 10 meters tall. The council tree officer has advised that tree crown reduction would most likely be approved.
We had an arborist look at it and they advised that they didn't expect it would cause any problems. The house is in Lancashire - so a wet climate and not particuarly clay soil.
Any input greatfully recieved!

Thanks for the reply Paul. My concerns surround potential damage to the property caused by the root system directly/indirectly. I'm inclined to believe that this shouldn't be an issue since the tree was there first and the house built around it but welcome more experienced views!
