Sorry for slow response. I really like the smaller chippers. We do a lot of London work where we push the chippers around by hand, down paths etc so light weight is important. I would love a big machine but i dont have the need really.
I still remember the days of having older kit and tbh i like the feeling of security ( i guess) that when i get to site 50 miles from home and i turn the key it is going to work.
I would rather spend some money to have a newer machine than to have break downs and lose not only earnings but also the headache of trying to reschedule work back in when i am booked up for the next 2 months.
Bearing in mind what you've said above, you ought to get the same again, I would.

Buy some logs???

I've been out with it again today, worked well, better than the grinders we used to run.
-
Would it have been best to work that out before you took on the ten year lease? I would just get on and use it, now you have it!

Log customers always complain about something: too big, too small, too long, too short, too wet, too dry, too much oak, too much ash, want to be in when you deliver, tipped in wrong place, don't burn quick enough, burn too quickly, the list goes on...........

I have been running a 7015 four wheeled kubota carlton from new for ten months and prior to that the deutz engine.I found the tracked version heavy on fuel and unless you are grindining on rubbish tip sites go for the wheels.Been grinding full time for past twelve years and Im glad I chose to use carltons.
Get the kubota 7015-it is more powerful than the deutz and uses the same size cutter as the 8018.Incidentally dont ever think about using a 7015 on a slope, wheeled or tracked.
Why not on slopes? I did a huge willow stump with the one we used to hire, that was on the bank of a dry stream, handled that fine?

Pretty good, did 420" in less than an hour and a half on two different sites!! Two of the teeth fell out, looks as though they had cracks from over tightening in the factory.

I have been running my 7015TRX for 10 months now and i cannot fault it. It is a high production machine and it gets through the work very fast. The other week i had 43 12" Conifer stumps to do, it took me 30 minutes to grind them out. The remote control is easy to use and responsive. The only problem i have found is you have to take care when driving over patios, you will brake slabs because of the weight of the machine. Not had the tracks come off yet, but i was told that backing up steep slops and turning can throw a track.
Got one coming on Tuesday, looking forward to it, the old predator would brake slabs as well, we've got ground guards they help, guess we'll have to watch track tensions and carry a couple of spanners and a grease gun!

Any one like to share numbers seen or owned?
-
My brother has one, says it's the nuts!
Good! I ordered one today, what grinder do you run?
-
You need an "O" licence for a 7.5 tonner, so the only extra for a bigger truck is the licence, personally I'd get a HGV licence and get an 18 toner.
18 all the way
-
Perhaps a phone conversation? PM? Texts?
Amusing, but painful. At least the person after the job will have shown patience!
This is actually cheaper than calling/ texting jersey, believe it or not, and hilarious 'rate my hinge' lol
