  1. Oz is awesome and if you have a couple of years under your belt before you go you will come on leaps and bounds quickly. Challenging trees and environment in general.

    Still looking for another climber

only time will tell......Give it some and i may have to give you a shout :thumbup1:

  2. This is true, but only if your subbies are non-VAT registered. If they start charging you VAT you'll notice a big difference.

With reference to the original post, everyone has a UTR. Some companies may ask you for it regardless of your employed / self-employed status. If your S/E you'll be responsible for your own tax unless you're on a CIS scheme, I only know of one Arb outfit who has been on this, but there may be more.

Going VAT registered will bump your price up for domestic clients, won't make much difference to VAT registered companies unless they're on the flat rate scheme. If you do go VAT registered I would think about getting on the flat rate scheme yourself, look into it and do some maths, but normally it should work out well for a sole trader.

I do find VAT a killer for domestic work.

I have a letter here regarding Construction Industry Scheme, Guess once i give that my tax is sorted for me then

  3. 30.00 to 40.00 an hour. Or more if the climber is worth it and knows it. IIRC the starting rate for a CUA with a 'unionised' shop is 32.50.

People actually climbing trees for 8.82....I realise this is probably pounds, but 16.00 is what groundman start at here in Canada.

That is right sad I wouldnt tie my boots up for that, period.

will be hearing from me later on in the year after my tickets :laugh1:

  4. I work for pat (silver squirrel) and had done for the past 15 months I responded to the ad he had put up on arbtalk back in 2011 and in a matter of weeks I flew out here and started work! I came out On my own when I was 19 and it has been lifechanging for me! The work is great I've learnt a lot but still keep on learning! The lifestyle is great On my time off I just hammer through the outback on my motocross bike for hours ! This is a great opportunity for the right people! Why carry on with the daily struggle when you can make a life for yourself here!

all about the sun and bike! living the life!

  5. Hi there fellow welsh climbers I am based in Barry and love trees may have access to a large beech tree in a ancient woodland near cardiff if anyone's keen will try and sort something out

  6. All I can tell you is mine was a 2011 saw and had new carb and re programed auto tune . There is an updated coil and updated starter pull mech but I have not needed them . Mine was subsequently " tweeked " by petemate on here . It has been faultless ever since and the best 60cc saw I have used .

like the sound of all this talk :001_cool:

Nothing but trouble with mine, its just come back from husky after getting new bits but its too little to late and its going.

Sent from Hodge's eye phone using the new fancy Arbtalk Mobile App:)

don't mean to come across a T@#T , but i hope your just one of the odd few unlucky ones

Get it out and get using it, the chances of it being a dud one are fairly slim. I can only think of a couple on here that have been mega problematic.

If your dealer's anygood you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

:thumbup1: I want to just don't want the old "told you so"......

  7. I know on new release there were hiccups but were corrected.... So not really looking into it a little more and just going off good reviews i went and bought one!

Today as mine has arrived i notice a bit of negativity

Have i done the right thing or have i just bought into a problem?

The saws still nice new and shiny waiting to be used.. or ..to be sent back?

  8. Awesome opportunity for young climbers with no ties.

What sort of experience have you got mate?

I bet it, Little to none only did my climbing course a few months back and have had hardly any work..

Where you from in South Wales sawbee?

I'm a Welsh lad, had to run away from the terrible weather though.
