From what I remember of my assessment it was stripping a saw, cleaning it, sharpening it and answering a few basic questions such as the pitch of the chain and two-stroke mixtures. There shouldn't be any trick questions.. The cross cutting was literally cutting the end off a log a couple of times. I'd recommend reading through an assessment schedule.

The assessor guidance states that a minimum of 10 cross cuts and a minimum of 1 boring cut MUST be made.

You should have a copy of the assessor schedule, and if you note #14 it states that you may take a lantra work book or any other publication but NOT the schedule.

We have both 550 and 560 and have had no problems off either.
