  2. Hi everyone,

A friend of mine has some lengths of wood to process in to firewood, I guess it's about 15t.

I've used a palax type machine in the past and I'm sure something similar would do the stack in a day or 2.

Does anyone provide a mobile firewood processing service with a similar machine in the North Devon / North Cornwall area?

    Thanks

    Scott

  3. Hi all,

We are a small conservation / forestry company based in North Devon.

Due to an expanding workload we require extra cutters for scrub clearance / felling work on a self employed basis.

Work is on either very wet or steep ground.

Must be experienced, have own transport, kit, small tree felling ticket and public liability insurance.

    £100 per day

    PM me for further details.

  4. Hi all,

    Thanks for your reply's,

The hedge in question is full of thorn and willow, some sections of clearance need to be up to 6m wide as access is required for digger to bank up both sides.

Access is good for cutters ( short walk from road), but tractor will cut the ground up too much moving brash ( so will have to be done by hand or possibly digger)

    Cheers

  5. Hi all,

I'm currently looking at some hedge coppice / laying work. (Devon style)

What are the going rates for this kind of work including burning brash?

Most of the sites have no access for a tractor to help with brash moving.

    Any help greatly recieved,

    Cheers

  6. Hi all,

We've currently got a lot of work on and could do with an extra cutter on a part time, self employed basis.

Person would need their own kit, small tree ticket etc.

Work is undertaking scrub clearance ( mostly felling willow) and burning on Culm grassland sites ( very wet).

Most of the work is around the Holsworthy / Stibb Cross area.

Prob 2 -3 days per week until end of March.

    pm me if interested.

    Cheers

  7. Hi all,

I'm currently battling my way through my accounts and have found various methods for claiming back part of the expense of using your garage as a workshop.

Does anyone know of a reasonable set amount that can be used or does it go on floor space etc?

I know if you push it too far you can become liable for business rates on that part of your property, don't want that!

    Any help greatly recieved,

    Scott

  8. Hi all,

New to the forum, I run a small conservation / Forestry contracting business in North Devon.

Most of my work is felling / scrub clearance works but also undertake stock fencing, hedglaying and footpath work etc.

I'm usually busy in the winter but trade drops off during the summer months due to conservation organisations not wanting clearance work done during nesting period.

Looking for any subbie work during the summer to fill diary, odd days or couple of days per week, pos ground work or softwood thinnings etc.

I have NPTC small trees, spraying, brushcutter, B+E, basic tractor operation and have experience working on sensitive sites, steep wet / ground and commercial forestry.

Willing to travel around North Cornwall and North / West Devon including northern edge of Dartmoor.

    Cheers

    Scott
