There are some real big trees on Cowdray. Theres an old oak tree it was one of the queens jubilee trees I think or something along those lines? Theres a cracking avenue of chestnuts near Easebourne village on the estate. I worked there last year as the student forester, boy what an eye opener that was! :001_smile:Who new forestry could be that good.

Go on woodlands.co.uk, woods4sale.co.uk and forests.co.uk and you can search woodland for sale. As to building a house in the woodland I doubt you will get planning, and if you do you will have very strict guidelines that will greatly decrease the amount of options you may have.

I'm currently in my 2nd year doing Forest and Woodland management at Newton Rigg and to be honest I do enjoy it but the first year is the better year as is in the 2nd year it all gets just that little bit more tedious. Have you wondered about going on placement next year and then come back for one more year and get a foundation degree?

Hi all,
Im looking for any felled hardwood lengths in the south lakes preferably, or south cumbria, north lancs or west yorkshire. Green or dry. Does anyone know who I could contact about this? Any amounts considered.
Thanks Dan

I really don't understand how people can get away with selling these, as they don't even look anything like a Stihl. Something needs to be done to stop these horrible looking imitations that obviously don't pass any health and safety inspections coming in to the UK. Some poor so and so that knows very little about chainsaws will no doubt buy one of these for back garden use and hurt themselves badly.
