soooooooo glad ive read this ive just insured my transit and escort with them on multi car and its cheaper than i was paying just for the tipper last year......... id recommend them for everyone, cut the middleman and go direct to aviva.......excellent company to deal with......
Yep! I did the same. Do the usual comparison bollocks etc and was recommended to try Aviva! Haven't looked back! Well happy! Trust ins couldn't touch them!

Hi all.
I will be starting a partial site clearance at a site in Hastings, East sussex. I will have a good few loads of woodchip that ideally could be tipped locally and also lots of wood. ie. Ash, Sycy, Holly, Lime and a bit of conny. This can picked up from site.
Any leads would be great.
Many thanks. Sam

Multi van policy with Aviva! saved me a fortune. They DO insure tippers!
-
Also, there will be wood mixed hardwood/ conifer logs that if anyone wants to pick up from site, again would save me taking it back.

Hi All.
Im starting a clearance job on a development site in Cranleigh, Surrey next Wednesday 6th. Its not a local job for us so would be great if anyone knows of anywhere that will accept/want loads of clean woodchip (conifer and hardwood mixed) within the area? . It would save me taking it back to East Sussex every day!
Many thanks,
Sam

Species dependent of course, Although it's true Holm Oaks have next to no inner growth.
However I have never heard of thinning to create light in the inner crown, with the specific purpose of producing a secondary line to reduce to. (at a later date)
Would that be recommended practice?
just asking:001_smile:
With trees of this age and size. It is good practice (if the client is prepared to pay for it!) to reduce the tree in stages. Maybe four times to end up with a more natural look with as little impact on the tree as possible. By reducing / thinning the branches will let more light through to the next layer of the crown therefore releasing the dormant buds and in turn fresh new internal growth. Three years down the line this growth has grown to a point where a crown reduction is possible again. And so on.
-
If you look closely at the tree you will notice it has been reduced. Maybe more of a thin on the top but the sides have been bought in. With Holm Oaks especially I tend to drop crotch/ reduce by thinning, due to the nature of Holm Oaks having little suitable growth to cut to inside the crown. To be honest I tend reduce many of my trees in this manner nowadays.

Hi chaps. Just wondering where I might hire traffic lights from in the East Sussex area? And would you normally hire or use their team to set them out for you?
Cheers, Sam

I Never price by hour. An hours grinding is alot of work done! Always by job and distance travelling. Starts at £50 to even get the grinder out! On average i suppose the cost is £100.00. You also have to take removing the grindings and how big that pile might be!!

For sure - Can definitely see the whole North:South divide thing here
Just out of interest. What would you have priced the job at?

Holy smokes! You certainly didn't under price it!
That's pretty normal down here mate. . . A day for 3 £650 + truck & chipper and a day for 2 £450 + trick & chipper. . .4 runs off site with chip and cord. . . All adds up!

Just noticed you have covered all the shed roofs with ply, do you do this often?
Cable tied to sheets together and layed them over the greenhouse roof! Done the same with the asbestos roof too! Just think one small chog pings off a branch and your profits are stripped!
