  1. Cheers James Was speaking to a farmer pal yesterday and they are getting the DHI grant for boiler to feed farmhouse and cottages. Good if there's an uptake and as you say regards the domestic part. My start up will be small scale as working at my own joinery business already but looking to supply local contacts so on so not a huge investment required at the mo. Spent 5 years up in the snec a while back. Nice bit of the world Tomatin. Steve
  2. Tom, Based in Lauder. Spoke to you last week. In fact passed you in Duns on Monday i think. I was over at Willie Russells. Good spot on wood been gifted it from Cala Homes site in lauder. Just need to shift it now up the road. Steve
  3. Based in Scottish Borders! Might be a long haul for you! Cheers anyway. It's only to go 5 miles up the road so got a local boy that will shift it.
  4. Would any one give a rough weight on this beech. Cut 2 weeks ago, stack sizes 7m x 2m x 1.5m and 3m x 2m x 1.5 (roughly). Need to work out tranporting it and was wondering if one atric would get it lifted? Attached pics. Thanks Steve

  6. Based at Lauder, Tom. I saw a post you put up last week regards how many tons! You keep your stuff at Willie Russells at Townhead. Doing a joinery job for Willie next week! It's early investigation stages for me at the moment regards this processing/supplying. I take it you cut, split and have it ready for going out but struggling to find the time to deliver?
  7. Taken on board thanks for responses. Where I'm based word goes round fast if your any good but it works the same if your bad so keeping customer happy is key!
  8. Hello, new to this forum although have been reading post's for a while now. Hopefully this won't get shot down in flames. I work for myself as a joiner and have been thinking for a while of supplying firewood not on a full time basis but weekends, evenings. I got a few contacts for supplying cord wood and I'm in the process of trying to get any grant (don't ask don't get). I can do this if I have quiet periods and at weekends. I don't expect to be busy straight away and will need to get stock pile built up and properly seasoned before i can start supplying so it would more than likely be 2013. Based in scottish borders 25mins south of Edinburgh. Market hopefully would be local as were a rural town. Would look to advertise in local newsletter and shop fronts within 15 radius. So what i guess i'm looking for is any advise good or bad apprecaited. Steve:
