Some more photos, if it they help:
I have no idea where he got the pot, its safe to assume cheap. The thing i cant remember is whether the hole was there when i got the saw. Pretty sure i would have noticed when i first looked it over, but maybe not.
The hole is off centre as you can see from the photos, and is pretty rough, with a crumbly edge.
Thanks for taking an interest.

myself would,nt worry about the casting hole etc but would set the saw a tad rich'er on the h screw so it fourstrokes a bit on the top end
Ah right, so that hole is just a flaw from when it was made? So nothing to worry about?
Cool thats what i thought i should do with the H screw, thanks.

Hi guys,
Hoping for some advice about a mysterious (to me) hole in the cylinder of my 260, near the spark plug. Hopefully the pictures work and you can see what i mean:
So bit of background - bought the saw recently off a guy who put new crank seals, pot and piston in and carb.
First it ran fine, then it would stall when i let the throttle off and then wouldn't restart. I thought this might mean it was running rich, so i reset the carb to manufacturers settings, and got it idling ok. Then it ran fine all day on quite a big job, lots of logging so was working hard.
It still runs fine but afterwards cleaning it i noticed this hole. The spark plug was white aswell, which i know suggests running lean?
Anyone have any light to shed on this? Would like to retune it if nescessary before i do another job as i dont want to damage it through running lean.
Thanks a lot for any help, much appreciated.
Cheers
Alex

Hi all,
I was just wondering if Husqvarna produce workshop manuals that go into as much depth as the Stihl ones with detailed step by step drawings on how to assemble and dis-assemble all the various parts e.g. the clutch.
All I've been able to find is these: http://www.husqvarna.com/ddoc/HUSO/HUSO2010_EUenAPen/HUSO2010_EUenAPen__1153163-26.pdf
Which aren't anything like as detailed as the Stihl ones:
http://www.worldoftrainz.com/Downloads/Files/Stihl/MS261%20Service%20Manual.pdf
I've had to rebuild the clutch on 2 261s and found the manual really useful, as I dont rrrreeeally know what I'm doing, would be good to have something similar for husky, not that anything ever goes wrong on our 346 :-)
Cheers

Ha, i think my boss would have a thing or two to say about that.

Fixed it today, it was the needle bearing! When i took everything off it was completely shagged and just fell away. New one on now and after a brief test all the symptoms have stopped. Will wait and see how it performs on a full day's work. Couldn't see anything obviously wrong with the clutch springs or the drum. My saw has a twin bought at exactly the same time from the same place, and its needle bearing is fine, will try taking mine back if it happens again. Thanks a lot for the advice guys, invaluable forum. :-)

Thanks a lot for the replys. I will have a looksee tomorrow. Reassuring that neither needle bearing or clutch springs will cost the earth. I'll be sure to carry grease in future, even if it isnt the needle bearing thats broken. Cheers

Hi there,
The 261 i use at work is fairly new, bought in the autumn. Its been great untill this week when it was borrowed and used for 40 minutes or so when it was really too blunt to be used, it had started to burn the wood. I have now sharpened it but it is behaving strangely:
1. It will not start with the chain brake on.
2. When I take the chainbrake off, the saw will start, but the chain spins round will ticking over, even though the chain is properly tensioned.
3. When i put the chain brake back on when it is running, the saw stalls.
4. The chain also goes really slack so its hanging off the guidebar when the chain brake is off, and tight again when the chain brake is on.
Any insight into whats gone wrong would be great, dont really trust our local power tools shop as they have completely failed to repair chainsaws sent to them in the past, so id like to have an idea about whats wrong. I havent had a chance to take the saw apart and examine in it, could a broken clutch spring explain some of the symptoms?
Cheers
Ms151tc workshop/service manual and max rpms
in Chainsaws

Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows of or has access to a proper service manual for the 151tc. I have the one for the 200t and its brilliant and so detailed. But I can only find the crap owners manual for the 151.
I'm mainly after it so I can maintain my 151 properly, have managed a piston swap on my 200t with the help of the manual.
Secondly if anyone knows the max no load rpms for the 151? The 150 is 12,800rpm, I assume the 151 is the same but it's not stated in the owners manual.
Many thanks for any help.
