Anyone around Glasgow interested in woodchip from mainly ash and birch from a thinnings site
-
Iv moved on from sthil now gave the last 261 away last week put new clutch kit on it for a friend to use for personal firewood the rest of them have been striped for parts the only problem I've had with the 562xp is one needing a new carb it's got a bit over 500 hours on it
-
I have scrapped six ms261 in the last three years had enough of sthil their attitude was to offer me a fifty pound reduction on a new saw in part exchange went back to husqvarna had two 562xp saws replaced with 562xp saws when mine could not be sorted under warranty so now have 12 husqvarna chainsaws down to two sthils left

Works pretty well this is a 4 ton winch will pull a good load could do with some tyer chains for the tractor as the stumps are a bit slippery on the steeper slopes but works wellCan anyone share their experiences working with alpine tractors in a forestry setting?
There is a fairly large woodland locally with an abundant stock of decent hardwood in it and I am fairly sure that if I offer to thin it for free (ie, in return for the timber) that they will bite my hand off. Access is poor and the extraction route is long. With my little forwarder, an alpine tractor skidding and a cutter felling, you'd be lucky to do 20 tonnes a day.
The woodland in question has a good access track right through it, but it slopes quite steeply up from that, and then falls away at the bottom. I had through that a reasonably meaty alpine tractor with a skidding grapple (with a rotator) would work quite well to skid the stems down to the track, where they could be cut to length ready for forwarding. Division of labour would be cutter fells and sneds out, tractor operator skids out and cuts to length and I forward out.
What really appeals about the little tractors is the versatility. A reasonable sized winch could be fitted when needed, and there is enough power for a branch logger if I ever get round to scratching that itch.
What are your collective experiences, oh wise folk of Arbtalk ??- 1

Iv had my 572xp for over 2 months it's a cracking saw used it with a 28 inch bar and it didn't slow down was on a spruce planted in 1947 the bar couldn't cut right through it left a peg in the center brilliant sawwhat about the new husky 572 that's out next week if you want something comparable to the 462 or the 562 is a cracking saw also if you find the weight is going to be an issue for you

Ensure you all have personal large wound dressings not just first aid kits these are a must have fisa guidelines relevant to your work so if using the machine one for that and debboging have a hand winch will help with the kit

Had the plastic shafts on two sets of wedges for around two years used most of the time very hard wearing bit more shock back on the hammer than on the wood well worth the moneyI've seen some plastic shafts for hi-lift, don't know if these are longer lasting? Anybody tried them?- 2

Louden the suppler was saying he was only getting one at a time and still waiting to receive more 562xp saws as well
-
Picked one up last week

Looks pretty good I'm thinking along the lines of an alpine tractor setup to be more flexible in what we can do just not too sure if the investment will be worth it in Central Scotland
-
-
If anyone has them I'm after two and can also get two 562 as well
-
Any news on the release date for these yet looking to update some saws soon
Anyone got any work for this
