  1. Thanks for the reply’s. As I've mentioned, the owners (the people who planted tree) moved out mid December. They have rented the property out and the new people moved in yesterday (3rd). I cut the tree down on the 2nd so the owners will not find out unless they decide to move back in the future. After I cut it down and realised it was not the wild weed of a tree, which i thought it was!. I stuck a branch from the tree back in the ground next to the stump. Will this grow back? Regards Pete
  2. Cheers fella's. I will explain the tale.... We live in a 3 bed semi. Our neighbor who has always been great with us put her house up for rent about 2 months ago after getting together with a new partner, who came with 2 kids. They are renting a 4 bed house for more space. For the last year (when she was there) I have noticed this tree growing on her side by our adjoining fence, which I assumed was the start of an ash tree or sycamore. Either way I didn’t want this (weed) blocking our light. She moved out before Christmas and found two new tenants for the new year. The house has been empty since she moved out and the new people move in tomorrow (3rd). I decided today to go round today and cut it down just before the new people move in. Still assuming this thing was not tendered to and growing unintentionally, I hacked it down, broke it up and shoved it in our recycle bin. I poured creosote on the stump to prevent it growing again. After coming on this forum and finding out that it is a red robin tree, I'm a bit concerned that the tree was intentionally planted by her. I have stuck one of the branches back in the ground in the hope that it will start growing again! Regards Pete
  3. Hi, This has been growing in my garden for the last 1.5 - 2 years. Tree is about 5ft tall. The largest leaves are 12cm X 6cm at the longest/widest points. Its in full leaf now and all are green, although some of the upper leaves (near top of tree) are a lovely bronze red colour. Leaves are quite tough and shiney. What type of tree is it, its been bugging me? Cheers - Pete
