  1. Hi all. Well been a while due to new job and life, but demand means I am starting the log business up again! Been contacted quite a bit since packing in and decided to go for it! Got plenty of timber, great quality as before and easier access for it. Will be selling bulk bags and wonders how prices have changed since I left?
  2. As many of you are aware i no longer sell firewood! We are having a stove fitted in the next couple of weeks and i wish to stockpile enough wood that i wont need to buy wet logs off locals! If anybody is doing any work in leicestershire with timber by product i will happily pay for it as it lays! Message me if preferred. Kind regards James
  3. After 4 years selling logs ive decided to pack in. Cost of cord, time to extract snd deal with it against the 40 quid bulk bag crew has made me! I now have a supply of quality logs for our jew log burner which im installing. Good luck to everyone in the log business!
  4. Sorry about late replies! Been away on hols! Im based in Melton Mowbray. Did some verge mowing before I went and the machine managed it admirably!
  5. Hi all. I have purchased a masua ride on mower for contracting. This machine makes extremely light work of long grass such as roadside verges and rough paddock ground. I am offering the service at £40 per hour. Please contact me with any information required or to discuss further. Kind regards James
  6. Any takers for tractor and crane trailer with operator in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire area? Day rates and job rates given on request. Pm with details Cheers Jay
  7. The trailers are available on ebay fairly frequently. Im not going to chuck 15k at a trailer. The ground conditions have been poor 5his year as its been so wet and no cold snap to firm it up. By using an ag machine on choppy tyres instead of floats id hope traction to not be such an issue. Ride management would suit me best as a side arm flail could be used on other jobs such as trimming hedges and banks for local horsey peeps.
  8. Some interesting comments. Ive worked it out on 10 hour fuel, 10 for machine purchase and 10 for wage. The rest is for repairs/maintenance. The fuel is on the high side so 38 would be top charge. In reality reckon it would work out closer to 30 but any fool can be busy for free! All depends on the amount of work available. More work means lower hourly rate. On a 40 hour week at 30 quid hour not bad turnover. Does anyone need such a service in east midlands at that rate?
  9. Brilliant. Thanks for that. All im after is a bit of help from the more experienced out there. If I can help out with the service I provide then we all win as the job gets done.
  10. 20k tractor. 5k for a timber trailer with crane. How could they run for 16 acre? Would barely cover fuel?
  11. Not a great deal. Im a grafter though and im not scared of work. The forestry would be a boost as I hope the ag would be 75% of my work. In winter when that goes quiet im hoping to pick up a bit of other work. I have a contact who manages several large estates so hoping he can sort a bit out for me.
  12. Cheers. Thats all im trying to find out if there is enough work out there to give me the option of alternative work. I currently have a full time job and wish to better the life which I can provide my wife and baby. The info I gather from here will influence my decision hugely! Where would I advertise? If all I want to do is assist contractors then would on here suffice?
  13. Like is said, I dont intend doing work which will destroy the investment! Mowing rides shouldn't do that much structural damage. If I keep with the same charge for ag and timber at 38 ish per hour do you think from your personal experiences that people would use me? Im trying to do my research on here as I respect the user's of this site immensely and their knowledge has helped me in the past.
  14. I wouldnt really want to go tree bashing. If I can help a contractor move from site to trackside then that would suit. Ive done some sums and looking at 38 an hour all in. How does that sound?
  15. Fair comment. I shall do some sums and find some work to justify it. Im more interested in ag work but thought if contractor needed tractor and operator I could sub.
