So, it could be said that more advanced trees such as oak, will CODIT better as they rely on it to continue growing. rather than trees like willow or birch (faster growers) that will just try and outgrow the infection?

Just a thought, birch trees are considered as pioneer species, could it be in their DNA not to CODIT, so that they don't last forever, therefore leaving space for other trees to grow as they fall over?

looking into CODIT, some trees can compartmentalise better than others, excluding variables such as tree vigour, health and location. does anyone know why some species CODIT better than others?

how do you deal with rude or wrong customers? I take "the customer is all ways rite" way of thinking but its bloody hard sometimes lol

Some people get through life by acting rude and arrogant to get their own way. my advice would be to listen to their opinion and then calmly lay out your opinion, referencing previous experience in the matter.

failing that, if they are a pain from the word go, they will probably be a pain when it comes to critisizing your work, and payment.

let them be someone elses problem!

Has anyone seen a chipper mounted on the back of a pickup ? I have seen the landy at the apf but that cost a fortune. I was thinking about for example on the back of a Mitsubishi warrior, obviously it would have to be a turn table and fairly low to feed brash in, but if you had a trailer behind you could chipback into it.

 

Any thoughts ??? Have I come up with sumit ??? Probably not!

My experience of l200 is that theyre not worth it! otherwise, Struggling to really see the benefit to having the chipper on the truck, rather than a tow behind? does sound pretty cool though to have a chipper unit mounted on the wagon!

Iv ended up with some surplus Moto x / freeride stickers and wanted to make my helmet stand out as others are always picking it up!! couple of stickers shouldnt hurt it, should it?

Personally i cant see how it would, but could adding stickers to a helmet be seen as degrading its protection level? as I am beyond bored of my plain orange lid!

anyone else added any stickers to their helmet?

recently lost my sewn strap through the chipper (definatley wont pass its loler now ) and after getting clogged up my Karabinas arent closing properly, any advice on a good cleaning product and a good size for a new sewn strap?

Hi all, Unfortunatley despite about 12 reminders not to my partner just popped my stein evolution class a saw trousers in the drier, I have been told this can have a bad effect on the protective fibres?

I am located in the Midlands of the UK, this fungi was on a Black Popular stump recently taken down. the fruiting body had a large bubbly white appearance that looked like filler, however this is definatley not filler!

to touch, although it was a solid was very moist and very cold.

a short amount of time later (days), the fungi had began to dry up, and soon blew away in a dust form.

this has truly stumped me (excuse the pun)

any Ideas?

Weve all heard of it, however this one takes the biscuit.

I have canceled my old insurance policy, they should have given me a good sized refund however are insisting they have sent it, despite my bank insisting i havnt received it.

their excuse so far is that there was no security on their refund, and therefore they cant get it back.

to which I said thats their own fault and their problem, i want my refund.

so I am sending bank statements from this month and last to prove i have received no refund.

has anybody heard or came across this before? any advice would be appretiated!

Iv have been using an ms260 for felling, processing, snedding... the lot for years and have never had a problem, great saw! better than the 261.

Saw a woman on a bike try to hop up a kerb and fail few months back. had cuts all over her face and legs, even had tarmac embedded in her teeth!

 

A few winters ago, grinding stumps roadside in the snow, an old woman came sideways on a moped through the cones. She began ranting at us as if she hadn't seen the signs, cones, three men in hi vis, van with flashing beacons or the 20mph limit. She ended the conversation by telling us to stop digging holes(!) and go out gritting and clear the roads:confused1:

Hahaha! When working near Oxford, one chap in his merc decided to filter past the traffic like a motorcycle, when he realised that there wasnt a long line of parked cars in a 50 limit, and that he was infact on the wrong side of the road he had to reverse all the way back, which gave us enough time to get everyone down from the mupes and trees in order to give him a round of appause when he came past, claiming "we havnt put any signs out".

Done a couple of Jobs on a road now, you get the usual muppet trying to run a red light and then having to reverse back, or the odd car following you into the site even though you having beacons on. Anyone else got any roadside events they fancy sharing?

Try car boot sales, However I would bite the bullet and get a new one, not many people know how to use/maintain an axe and you dont want to be paying for their mistakes.

Try to use as much different kit as you can on your 38, see what suits you before going out and spending any money. As for your harness,i doubt it's the right kind if you've been rock climbing in it.

Thats a good idea thanks for that! And the Harness worked for climbing, however it is a work harness by design. I will have a look for it and check to see if it will work, like helmets do you have to change harnesses after a few years?

Hopefully starting my CS 38 in december, closely followed by the 39. And its about time I make a wish list of things that im going to need.

So far I have seen that the stihl t200 is better than the 201, and i do have a work harness for when I used to go rock climbing that I need to check is suitable.

other than that, fire away whats the best kit at a reasonable price? boots, spikes anything.

Same here mate! Problem i think, is that any proffesional position in any buisness will naturally be quite high up the ladder, threfore they aren't going to sign on anyone without experience! However its impossible to get experience enless you have a degree and get a job in it....impossible!?!

Just wondering if anybody is employing or knows of a company that is, I am located in oxfordshire however am prepared to travel.

Im 19, have been doing tree work for 8 years

have my own new PPE, own Stihl proffesional saws and my own transport.

i have a CS30 / 31 however my assessor said he could see that I had been using a saw for years.

any form of employement would make my day!!

I have been using a saw since I was in primary school, however I m going to get as much practice as possible so that every procedure is second nature to me. From what i have done so far, i have loved it, and cant imagine a better line of work to go into!

Personally, a brief, to the point CV would be enough, I dont want to trawl through 100 CVs which are full life stories.

What would you look for in a CV? and what are your veiws on more of a working interveiw, like a trial day?

shame I dont live nearer or you would have a new short and snappy CV on your doorstep!!
