  1. I have also asked the landscape office of our local council who sent me the relevant pages of BS 5837:2005 which shows that a mature stem of over 60cm needs to be planted at 1.2m minimum from a building. Could have knocked me down with a feather. They also said that if we are happy with the species then it's suitable. Get that feather out again. Steve
  2. Clay soil I'm afraid, so what does that actually mean? Thanks, Steve
  3. Well, when we bought first saw it, the nursery owner was with us, and he had previously seen our garden having helped us choose and position 5 trees already. He was also supposed to have been there for the planting of it, but he didn't turn up, just his 2 workers. So it's OK being 2m from a house wall? Steve
  4. Sorry this is my first post, but I was recommended to ask this question in this forum. We have just had about £2000 worth of trees planted in our garden by a professional tree nursery. One of these is a dawn redwood. When we picked this out at the nursery we didn't even know the name, just liked the look of it. It's now been planted about 1m from the border of our garden and 2m from the end wall of our neighbour, (about 15m from ours). Having read up about this tree we now realise it is both far too big for our garden and far too close to the border and our neighbour. Have we got any leverage over the original supplier to at least move this tree away from the boundary, (it's already about 5m tall), or preferably take it it back? It was only planted 6 weeks ago and we had originally spoken to them about moving it 1 week after planting, but now they are not accepting or returning our calls or emails. Thanks, Steve
