  1. Hi All, I know that this may be a daft question for all the woodsman but how do you quantify the amount of wood in a pile of cut logs ? not yet sliced for fire wood All the logs are approximately 6"- 8" in diameter and approximately 8` in length and stacked in a pile I can remember from school days (long time ago) LxBxH etc but is there a rule of thumb for measuring wood stacked in a pile, or does the same apply. Do you measure one and then take an average?? Also when logs are sliced & split how is that quantified ie by the bag etc Cheers, Lindz
  2. Hi, The largest log +/- 12"-16" diameter and +/- 10`-12` in length and has just been lying on top of smaller log rails in the open. A mixture of smaller lengths +/- 4"-8" diameter. I am not sure if it is usable unless for fire wood so thats why I am asking for some advice Cheers Lindz
  3. Hi All About 6 years ago I had some Ash trees felled along with mixed pine to use as firewood. I was told at the time that I should let the Ash dry and later have it milled into planks either to use for garden furniture or to sell. Have I left it to long to be of any good use? The logs have been left in the open to dry and most of the bark has come off. I hope that someone will be able to help me or point me in the right direction. Cheers, Lindz
