Sorry, I wasn't clear.
I was looking for confirmation (or otherwise) of the ident.
Thanks again.

Can anyone suggest what this tree might be? It is about 8m tall (appears to be mature) and is multi-stem (3 stems).
I thought it was a Cotoneaster sp. but having looked in my book and online it seems the leaf vanes are much less prominent in my example than anything i can find.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks very much to all who have contributed.
I perhaps should have said the tree was around 9 metres tall. I guess that would have ruled out witch hazel.
I think I was a little confused by the buds (especially the terminal one on the 3rd pic) - I wondered if they were a little too long and pointy to be Ulmus.
Anyway thanks again,
Brian

Thanks,
Bolthole - I often remember the Cedars like that too.
But I wasn't confident about that particular tree - I thought it had quite a random branch structure. Neither the branches themselves nor the growing tips appear to be at all consistent.
It certainly had blue/ green foliage.
Cheers,
Brian
