Just after some advice on how you guys would price to deadwood 5very mature oaks.
They all had wide crowns roughly 45-60 ft, dropzones were all easy, some had more deadwood than others, from looking from ground no more than 10-15 in each tree, I reckon it would take 2 fairly decent climbers a full day to complete, sorry no pictures, would you price it as per tree or just a dayrate, un sure whats the best. And everything that is cut off is staying on site for the customer. Cheers guys

:confused1:Hi guys, don't know if this is the right place to post, but at the moment I'm employed by a large company for our area, which I've been with for the last 9years,but I'd like to start up by myself. But making that jump can be a massive risk for myself and family financially, if it doesn't work out!! I'm just a little unsure whether I can still be employed and self employed at the same time, just to see if it works out the way I'd like it to. Any advise would by much appreciated

A team mate of mine turns 58 next month, he's the first one in the team to get his kit out of the van to go climbing, sometimes got to tell him let the young ones climb and have a rest instead, but it seems he just loves climbing. as I'm only a young 32 I hope I'm still at it when I reach that age too, nice one grandad!!

Been using the quad 160 for about 2 years now, find it a tidy machine but has had a few issues with it, plus the trailer that comes with it is a little bit flimsy, but the idea of it is good. I use it mostly on utility work so it gets about a lot. Has had better chippers and a lot worse ones too.

Think Arb aid do one that goes with their first aid kits. Saw them at the Arb show, they seem to know their stuff. Alternatively I did one a few years ago with ABC. They were quite good.
The arb aid guys do know their stuff, the first aid kits a brilliant, the best I've seen ever, spent the whole day with Greg Sutherland. Top guy, knew his stuff.

We run a Renault kangoo 4x4 , there not built like a vw but there very good vans and cheap to repair and run and wel it's 4x4 with 45 to the gallon
Used to have a kangoo 4x4 years ago, just looking for more mpg, with the cost of fuel these days. Really good motor.

Berlingo all the way, Good ground clearance, bomb proof engines, good of road (for a van), all plastic front so you can push stuff out the way and tows well. Ive had mine nearly two years now and chucked 650000 miles on it with only 1 service only needed a new clutch (due to towing large trailers full of woodchip with it) and a new starter motor which was a pre existing condition. Also good on fuel look nice and tidy without being flash and has good amount of load space. Cant praise them enough.
Found the Berlinger a bit low for clearance, got one now as a spare van. Already gone through a sump, oops. Fantastic on the derv .

Go for the stihl 362, it's a cracking saw. I've had it for a year now and not a single problem. Beats any 550xp

Ground clearance is a must as we're up and down farm lanes in the heart of the welsh countryside!! Should we get 4x4? Or get them walking???

What are your opinions, I personally don't know anything about them, they seem a big company with many branches throughout the country, from what I've seen on there website, cheers
