Hardly. Asking such asinine questions as whether my brother-in-law is getting paid minimum wage in your little scenario. You’re either being facetious or are a mong. :)

Oh dear is that really the best you can do, House bought and payed for mortgage but a distant memory, nice car, kids through university, financially secure. not bad for a Mong Eh, Lol

I love how much I’m getting under your skin. I’m taking up space in your head rent free. ?

Sorry to burst your bubble but you would have to work MUCH smarter than you do to achieve that, But i think your sort of at your limits as it is, never mind you could always retrain Lol

Our brother-in-law is a heating engineer so it’s all good. ;)

Yes but is that not sort of taking advantage of him a sort of entitlement attitude, hope you pay him more than the min wage, if the worst comes to the worst i suppose she could get a log burner and become a Log Goblin

Typical entitlement attitude. You got lucky. That’s all there is too it.

Bollocks, The Wicked Witch wanted to sell all the housing stock off like a typical Tory selling  the family silver, I just helped her out  That’s all there is too it. Lol

I dont have an answer. But yes, moving to where there is still work but cheaper housing has to be considered an option of anyone wishing to get on the property ladder. No, not everyone can or is willing to do this. But it has to be a considered option, at lest for a while. Who cares would will still do the menial stuff? There will always be people who have no interest in owning their home. There will still be plenty people who are looking for extra income, ie, not the main bread winners. There is plenty of Students and young folk starting out in life to take on these roles.

My Sister is a School Technician, its a low paid job. Her Husband washes Stairs for a living

. They bought their first house for £130,000. Its not ideal, its not in a great area, but they are now on the ladder after years of scrimping and saving.

Oh shit what if her central heating broke down, she shouldn't be buying she should rent in your opinion, come on make your mind up lol

I wrote a fairly long post here, but I'll boil it down to this: unless you've been working and saving for your first house deposit since the financial crash (08-09), you'll have no idea of the realities of the modern rental/housing market (in the UK), and your opinion isn't worth much to anyone who has.

A few years ago I was doing 60+ hours a week on the saw and machine, and struggling to make any ground in saving for a deposit. If you'd have told me then I should be working harder I'd have knocked your teeth out.

Your wasting  your breath the only opinion he sees is his own and that is a bullshit one, Oh well

Personally I am quite happy Ive never had to rely on anyone else's handouts, but that is just the way I am. You might be able to hold your head up high under such circumstances, personally I could not.

In your own words Bully for You, I have no reason not to be able to hold my head up high unless your referring to the Right to Buy, in which case which part of RIGHT do you not understand?

  8. 3 minutes ago, trigger_andy said:

Then they simply cannot afford to own a home. Its just not feasible. They cannot even get by without handouts from the tax payers. Why should people who actually pay tax fund someones mortgage? Its barking.

But you're ignoring the fact their 'wages' are supplemented by tax payers and also that being minimum wage earners they are most likely never going to be in a position to maintain their properties. What are they gonna do when the central heating packs in? Or the windows need changed?

£500 is cheap anyway, they should  be chuffed.

The type of people these jobs are aimed at. People starting out in life, Students, second income earners, people happy just muddling by renting all their lives.

    Bully for you.

    Yeh, you sound the type......

but your ignoring the fact that houses in the Uk are over priced in comparison to many peoples income which you seem to blame on the low paid members of our society, me thinks you believe you are a Superior being, sad but Hey Ho

ohhhhh you sound jealous of my big discount curtesy  of Maggie the milk snatcher Lol

    Yes.

Plenty people do not wish to burdened by a Mortgage. The refusal of a significant number of tenants to take advantage of buying their Council house proves this.

The reality is if you're a cleaner, or work in McD's or any other menial job your whole life is subsadised by the tax payer. They simply cannot afford the mortgage and upkeep of a property, let alone put food on the table.

Low paid work does not need to come with the negative connotations you are applying. Low Paid work is not a bread winner wage. Be it a wife or a husband who is in the lower paid work it should maybe be considered a supplementary income.

No idea what that last comment means. But seems like you're pro-brexit, and thats awesome. :D

The reality though is that for hundreds of thousands if not millions of couples and single folk it is not a supplementary income but it is their main source of income and for whatever reason the only work available to them, I think most would buy given the choice rather than pay around £500 per month rent for a two bed terrace.

As for my last comment if everyone worked smart and got a higher paying job who would they be replaced by?

Oh I bought my Ex Council house, Dont like the Torys but took full advantage of their Right to Buy scheme Lol.

I was meaning people in general. Many seem to give the impression of no being arsed to get a real education, or an apprenticeship and the dedication and time required to build a career after that then complain when they are stuck in a perpetual cycle of renting and low paying work. They then expect the system to change to accommodate them. It does not and should not work that way.

I know you work hard, but you also need to work smart. If you find yourself in a situation where you cant get a mortgage with your chosen career then its you that needs to change that and not expect the system to change to suit you. Maybe you have a Mortgage but as I its not directed at you, just picking up on your comment.

So people on the Nat min wage all 2M or so of them need to work smart and get a higher paying job so that they can afford to buy a house? then who is going to to do all the lower paid work? if it came to this Thank god for Brexit  Lol.

A lot depends on how you intend to use the boat, Are you going to continually cruise the system or do you need to be in a certain area for work etc?, if the latter sort out a mooring before you buy a boat (which up north are a lot easier to find than one further south). Don't go rushing in if you decide to go ahead, go to all the brokers and look at as many boats as you can, see which lay out suits you best. Two ways of heating the boat is essential imo.

    take a look here.

Edit: and don't  kid yourself it's a cheap way of living, remeber boat stands for Bring Out Another Thousand.

Thank you for your advice i will take it all on board, a narrow boat on the cut has been a dream of mine for a long time, not going to rush into it but as they say life is short, it seems such an idyllic life away from all the hassle of everyday rush and push, good luck with yours.

You lot can hate however much you like, I'm back up the cut come the new year. I'll see you setting the locks.

Is this true Eggs? if so you will be living my dream, i have thought long and hard about getting a live-aboard and would really appreciate any thoughts/advice you have to offer, my choice of Cut would be the Leeds & Liverpool.

absolutely. they teach you things like "always ensure your chain brake is on" so you can continue to be a complete idiot and survive long enough to procreate and exponentially increase the numbers of idiots roaming around performing stunts like this..

other side of it could be that he felt trapped in his body and was desperate for a sex change?

    LoL

  14. I did say appearing to be!

And bullying is not just physical abuse.

I was subjected to both at school because I was small and from a farm.

I got bigger and got on in life. A lot of those bullies are in prison now some have since apologised.

    I'm 6ft 2 and 15 stone now.

It's not your politics that bother me its your way of talking to people.

    ok i apologisze,

  15. I had a feeling there was an element of jest in there, and I touched on that in my post. Of course it is the sensible thing to try and see both sides when differing opinions clash, though often in the heat of the moment we all fail at that.:001_smile:

Back on track, it really is so frustrating to hear of others getting repeatedly hit by theft, often in a brazen way, I can only imagine the impact that has on people, and their ability to function.

I actually felt lucky when I got cleared out that I did not get a repeat event after a few months, even so it left me fuming for revenge, and at the lack of response from the cops.

As i said in my first post i sympathise with the O.P and do not condone what the thieving scum have done i was just trying to put possible reasons for this type of crime becoming more prevalent, imho they should be locked up for a long time, theft is theft whether because of need or greed but when its need due to genuine desperation its a slightly less bitter pill to swallow, still for the victim i fully understand the anger/frustration ect and want for revenge.:thumbup1:

  16. Ironic....just a few posts back, whilst calling me thick, you were posting a snipit from a trash paper to substantiate your side of the debate...

You will notice I myself needed no recourse to such behaviour..pot calling kettle perchance?

You judge people you don't know, then insult them thinking it wins your point... from my experience in life that is a naive and foolhardy thing to do,maybe it works for you from your perspective, but ask anyone, it actually shows you in a bad light, which is a shame as in real life I'm sure your a nice well balanced chap to know...

Then maybe I too am 'naive' , just like all the othe sheeple you lable, another media name by the way, used by yourself here as an insulting tool in an effort to bolster your opinion.

I like others can see the tactics you use, and they discredit your ability to apear plausible .

To be honest politics on any forum will cause arguments unless all the members are open minded to others opinions which is unfortunately rarely the case, i am anti Tory because of experience with family and friends suffering under them, miners/disabled ect, not what i read in the media, i do not insult people intentionally though i admit it may come over that way at times, but its meant mostly in banter, i spent most of my life on building sites/road jobs where the lads where far from sensitive, i dont post anywhere with the intent to offend! but by nature will defend myself as will most folk.
