Does anyone know where I can take cs41 in the Kent area apart from Hadlow? Cheers Deano
  3. Taupottreeman I can't agree more, this was a job I felt more experience was required and looked forward to picking up some tips, I have to admit I felt gutted after my colleague bigged him up to be so good, couldn't help thinking that with 4 years behind me I'll be just as good if not better (got to set your heights high ) but at least I have the right to be up there! Been reading the NPTC site and I haven't yet found anything to say its a legal requirement as such, seems to be a grey area. "A certificate to demonstrate competence"
  4. This is the point Frankie, no one has ever asked me for my certificate cards and I look forward to the day a customer asks to see them, truth is as you say; they wouldn't recognise the qualification anyway.
  5. All I know is I wouldn't ask a sparky no matter how good he is to wire my house without the right tickets. If it was my job I would of asked for them, am I wrong?
  6. Thats my question! Evening ladies and gentleman, I admit I don't come here as much as I should but I have been reading all the fantastic comments for my good mate who I trained with, tragically died recently, I take my hat off to you all; it's a dangerous job we do but it's nice to know how supportive the world of arborers are. I came accross an arborer today, he did a good job, I anchored for him as being freelance since my training last year everything I do is text book so it was time to watch a different aspect. My life will become a lot easier adopting his working line set up! Everything so far so good, weren't til we were cleaning up for the day we got chatting and I asked where he trained, he said did his 31 & 32 but the rest is time served with some bloke so not actually qualified (38 & 39). Don't get me wrong the fella was good but what implications could there be if the **** hit the fan? He too is freelance and has 4 years climbing and in my view very able but I seem to come accross this more and more and I some times wonder why I spent a bloody fortune getting my tickets. I thought you couldn't even (legally) buy a top saw without a cs39? Would love to know your thoughts on this one. Thanks Deano
  7. Thanksfor that Nick. saved the site and will have a good look later
  8. Experienced in felling, less experienced in climbing (being honest) but took to it like a duck to water 3 months ago! However I'm rapidly clocking up experience now. Hold all NPTC 30.1, 30.2, 32, 38 & 39. First aid trained. Have my own 2 million public Liability cover & life cover. No height restrictions. Fully kitted out for climbing/ Felling (small medium trees) Have own transport. Currently working part time to cover my bills whilst setting up my tree/arbor work but would also consider going full time for the right company. I work with precision and speed (when possible) but I dont cut corners or take risks so working for a good reputable firms a must. I know this sounds obvious but I've seen and heard some horrors and dont wish to take unnesessary risks chasing the money! Thanks for Reading Dean (Ashford Kent),
