My husquvarna 455 rancher stopped working and looked like it wasn't feeding fuel properly but still getting compression. I replaced the carb with a new one and when I prime it fuel (and some bubbles) come through but it doesn't start and the plug is bone dry when I pull it. Suggestions on where to go from here? Had it apart a couple of evenings and getting a little frustrated! Cheers

Replaced those parts and ran it this afternoon. Pulls the oil up but doesn't seem to make it to the bar, it runs out the bottom! Any thoughts?

Took it all apart tonight. When you hand turn the oil pump with the rubber hose up to the oil outlet off the oil comes out of the hole in the metal oil pump. When I put the rubber hose back on and push it down it comes out on the oil hole. However when it's all back together the oil seems to seep out the bottom. It's like the rubber hose isn't sealing on the oil pump outlet. Any thoughts?

My husky 455 rancher isn't oiling the bar. Cleaned the holes in the bar and looking for what to look at yet. What's the best thing to check next? Cheers

Started looking at the saw last night to pull it apart and see what the story is and I found that 2 of the 4 bolts at the bottom of the cylinder that hold it onto the head had fallen out!! So I've ordered spares and once I put them in (with threadlock!) we'll see how it goes.

Not sure what oil I've been using, I'll check when I get in tonight. Can I just replace the rings in it? Would be easier and cheaper to do this. I'll maybe pull it apart tonight if I have a chance. Any thoughts on an air leak? How would I work out if there was one and where it is? Thanks guys.

My husky 455 rancher lost compression last year and so I changed the cylinder and piston. Not used it since October and picked it up the other day and it ran for about 10 seconds after starting and then packed up. Checked the compression and it's buggered again! Any thoughts on how this is happening? Have I been unlucky or is there an issue with the fuel? Maybe leaving it in for a few months?

Got the cylinder and piston changed so many thanks for the encouragement to do that and especially to adw for the workshop manual which was invaluable. It's the first time I've ever done that much work to the guts of the engine so I was well chuffed when it spluttered into life! Could of questions: 1. The bolts on the silencer came loose a couple of times when I was running it yesterday. Do they need some thread lock, just done up tighter or something else? 2. It's often cutting out when left to drop to an idle. Is this just a carburetor adjustment and if so how would I got about doing that? Thanks

Parts ordered and I'll get onto it at the weekend if they stuff's here. The cylinder and piston is scored and so there's not pressure in it. Workshop manual would be great! Could you email it or would it be post? Direct message me if you want either email address or postal address. Many thanks Dave
