  1. The attached photos are of 12 year old beech trees which are beset with the obvious problem, it has already killed 3 out of 10 and is affecting all but a copper beech to some degree. Can anybody identify it for me? Can it be controlled? Is there any preventative measures I can take? I live at 1000ft near Lake Vyrnwy mid-Wales in a semi remote area and I have not seen any other local trees of any age infected. Many thanks Rob
