  1. Hi Paul, the courses that she has been running are the approved HSE EFAW and FAW, but the courses are tailored to meet the needs of the audience, ie tree surgeons, farmers etc. It looks like it is the Forestry Commission who are asking for the 'F' suffix. There is only one awarding body that issues certificates for this and Jenny is contacting them to look into delivering this qualification for those that require it. There is an additional 4 hours training requirement on top of the EFAW and FAW. The courses that she currently delivers includes severe bleeding, crush injuries and spinal injuries. Jenny has a background of working in the Fire Service for 14 years and the Prison Service for the last 2 and she is a Community First Responder and trainer for the East of England Ambulance Service. She is also undergoing NEBOSH and will shortly be offering Manual Handling, COSHH etc etc. Hope this helps. Any questions please phone Jenny 07801709186 or email [email protected]

    Cheers

  2. You've got it too easy nowadays:001_smile:

Oh for the days of three knots and three strand. The Prussic loop and an eye in the end of your rope was a major innovation at the time.

Oh how i miss three strand!!! but i still climb with a prussic, tried all these new fangled things like lock jacks and vt etc, although i'm looking forward to trying out the zig zag. looks like it could save my knackered fingers. Got to admit that most new techniques in climbing have passed me by, never really took a great deal of interest in them all and to be honest most happened without me even being aware of them. This srt thingy has grabbed my interest though.

  3. Hi All,

My wife has been teaching first aid for some time now.14 years in the fire service and now for HMP services. She is now going it alone and has already run over twenty courses for tree surgeons. She can teach the 1day emergency first aid, and the three day first aid at work. Courses cover all the legal requirements and also cover the more likely injuries to be sustained in the tree surgery world. Any number catered for from 1 to 100. courses also can be held at weekends so you don't have to take a day of work. Most courses are held in Bedford but will travel if enough participants. And the best bit £95 per person. Please phone Jenny on 07801 709186.

  4. As title says. groundsman/ trainee climber needed. CS30 & 31 needed, Chipper ticket and CS 38 would be great. Full driving license also needed. Work is 90% utility(i know) 10% domestic. All the work is beds, northants and milton keynes based. we are based in Sharnbrook, Bedford. Very good rates of pay and a generous bouns scheme. 28 days holiday inc bank holidays plus a few days for christmas. Employment would start at the beginning of April.

  5. I've been a lurker on this site for a while now so thought i'd take the plunge and join in. I've been involved in the industry for over twenty years., mostly as a climber, but now the years are cracking on i'm slowing down a bit, well ok, a lot. I ran my own business a few years back but like a lot of us i got hit badly when the recession hit.

But as they say"once more into the breach dear friends" New business name reqistered and shortly to start trading. Up and at em.
