  1. That looks great Alun. Is that your own milled timber and is it finished with any treatment at all. Cheers Carl

This is my own milled timber from last years windblow. I just sanded down to 40 grit no oil/varnish. Hopefully it will just go silvery grey. Oils and varnish need maintenance I find, so didn't bother. Good luck with your project and please update with pics. 👍

    Alun.

  2. Steve, love it. Love your open addiction!!

Table project - like the design you sent me. Thought we could do some kind of arrangement along the lines of I provide wood for three tables, get one made in return, or something similar. What do you think?

    Al.

  3. Hey Steve, these are all looking great. I love this wood. Made some boards for Christmas gifts for family from it, lovely to work and comes up a treat. Forgot to take pics amongst the seasonal excitement. Doh!

Table? Sounds like an interesting project. Let's do something. Let me know what your thoughts are.

    Cheers, Alun.

  4. Hi all, I'm looking for a pair of walkie talkies to buy for Christmas presents. They will be for our two daughters aged 4 & 7, so they can be contactable when they go on adventures around the farm. The farm is roughly 500 acres and quite wooded.

Can anyone recommend a make or model that will give us good coverage up to a mile? Looking to spend £30-50.

    Thanks, Pup.

  5. Yep twelve foot is plenty for 90% of applications. Difficult to transport after that and always cut down in length anyway.

Cracking job there mate, stunning colouring on it. What thickness are you milling them down to?

    Thanks Stompy,

Planning on milling at inch and quarter, then stack and stick.

    Unless somebody advises me differently.

    Pup.

  6. Sandspider - the planks are twelve foot long, out of a 36' log. Seemed like a good way to divide it, it fit on the trailer, and the tractor could pick them up. Twelve foot is long enough for most applications.
