  1. Yes. I make my money from wood. Iv been running a business for 10yrs. Iv got a yard which I'm in the process of building a workshop and log store from timber out of the woodland. My friend and my dad are welders so that's not a problem. I have been considering some courses duty I never seem to find the time. I don't care about this car, it doesn't owe me anything and I don't want money. Maybe I'll make a go-kart :)

  2. Iv got a car sat on my drive, it's not worth much, it's got no MOT, I was thinking about weighing it in. However, theres no MOT due to chassis rust. The car runs fine.

Iv never been much of a mechanic but I think I'd like to take the engine out of it and use it to power something useful at my yard.

Any ideas about a project for me to undertake.

Can I use it to power a hydraulic log splitter?

Looking forward to seeing some suggestions..

  3. Firstly: I don't come on here very often, please send any replies to [email protected] or text 07949180071

Must have basic NPTC units, CSCS or willing to take the test, own PPE and own transport is preffered or live close to LS12

Thanks guys.. Look forward to hearing from you

  4. Where can I hire a log splitter in west Yorkshire?

Preferably a towable petrol driven one, however I can accommodate a 3 point linkage hydralic one. Im not interested in any of them micky mouse manual things or electric ones. I want a fast flow rate and lots of power.

    Cheers Guys :beerchug:

  5. Hi everybody.

My Brother (28yr old) is looking for work as a groundsman. He was climbing for years in his younger years but has spent the last 4yrs roofing and wishes he had never left the tree game.

    He's got:

    30 31 36 38 39 40 41

    MEWP

    Clean Driving licence

    Own Transport

    Own PPE & Saw

He live's in Leeds and is willing to travel.

I give him as much work as I can but I don't get enough to keep him going full time and he has a family to support. We are both happy for him to take on a full time job, aswell as just doing the odd few days for somebody for cash, He's pretty flexible.

He's fine with any aspect of tree work, he's my main man when were all out working, he's competent with lowering devices, winches, he's got his climbing tickets so he knows exactly what the climbers need and when, he's a 100% work horse, he's got a strong frame, works like a machine and on my jobs he makes sure everybody is doing their fair share.. seriously, im always having to tell him to slow down a bit.. I wish I had enough work for him..

    More info available on request.

    Don't miss out. he's a great asset.. AND he's a huge moral boost,, he's a funny guy..!!!

  6. Im here for a bit of inspiration.

Have to replace my chipper box ready for another year of abuse..!!!

Id love to see pictures of different style boxes that everybody else uses and a little bit about the way they were been built and what materials you've used and maybe how effective its been for you or how you might modify it next time.

Cheers people.. I look forward to a good read

  7. Thinking about investing in a 7.5t tipper. Iv got HGV I&II licences so that's not an issue but im unsure of all the other laws.

Can anybody give me some experienced info.

I basically need a list of things to consider before buying.

  8. Im still unsure of wages down south. up here i charge between £120 & £150... so i would need that and a bit more to cover mainly the diesel. Is it feasible? do people pay that for a top climber down there.

Oh and the ppl trying to put me off finding work around London....!! Im an adult. Ill make my own choices thanks.

  9. Im a good freelance climber operating in the North of England. Im making good money but im not working everyday. Im thinking of advertising myself down south in the view of working the odd week away from time to time, however, theres the obvious cost of travel and lodging to think about, im doing a little research into wether the extra money you make down south offset them costs?

What sort of money can a good experienced freelance climber expect, when working down south?

A few of my main selling points to get an idea of my experience/abilities...!!!

    Climbing for 14yrs

Own van, saws, PPE, etc, etc, etc.

    30, 31, 36, 38, 39, 41 & EA1
