Did number 1 have any berries on it? We had to take down a cockspur thorn the other day. Most of the thorns as you say are about an inch long and mainly occurred on the bottom half of each branch closest to its main union. Does it have berries? The one we worked on had clusters of berries which were green but starting to redden and looked like a cross between a small crab apple and a rose hip. No.2 I'd agree looks more Salix than Pyrus. No. 3 not sure but shape could be cotoneaster among other possibilities. Does it have red berries? No. 4 could well be a sickly looking birch. No. 5 Ilex, surely!?

I'm looking for more tree work locally having moved to Scarborough recently with my wife's job. I've have 7 years climbing experience but don't mind groundwork or woodland/forestry work and have plenty of experience in these as well.
