  1. If you are a free lance climber with at least 3 years experience in the Nairn, Inverness and Elgin area please get in touch.. Please though I need experienced self motivated people I'm not looking for a trainee or a grounds man, nor anyone fresh out of college. Wages negotiable.

  2. Rob there is a fantastic company called Chains Direct you might have heard of them, we use them all the time next day service and free delivery.. to wait for it ..the Highlands, They must have contended on, that Royal mail don’t charge any extra if you live anywhere in the UK. The couriers who charge 3x as much to deliver use Royal Mail and subcontract it. 40% of royal mails letters are from other company’s. So i'm sorry I don’t buy the I must know that by now coment that I live in the highlands

  3. Thanks to the people who put sensible replies on this and to F R Jones and Son I’ll have a look at your site tonight.

I think some people have missed the point entirely I’m not trying to humiliate any company nor do I care if it costs more to post to the highlands or who’s side they are on It simply up to the consumer make the choice to pay it or not.

This was mealy to highlight a company with bad manners.

Unfortunately some people like to try draw you into an argument which is a disappointment

  4. Seth, i'm very sorry you didnt get the result you wanted with the company, but that doesnt mean you come on Arbtalk and name then in an attempt to ridicule. Those are the rules, if you can't play by them please say so now, thanks :)

Steve, I'm sorry you misunderstood why I posted the email! Firstly I didn’t do it to humiliate.

Secondly I find Arb talk a very useful resource for people in the industry to share information and experiences with.

Clearly I need to look more closely at the rules for future..

  5. Most couriers do surcharge heavily for the highlands and it's no good saying this or that service is the same price if that company doesn't use that service.

The reply you got was below par and without making excuses, you would be amazed at how many rude, aggressive and cheeky emails you get when you sell online. I've been threatened with violence twice in the last Month. We are constantly being asked to give huge discounts and many people seem to think that online sellers should not be trying to make a profit at all.

I'm not saying that you were anything but polite in your enquiry but it takes some skill to endure a poostorm of angry emails and maintain a polite demeanour. This person maybe hasn't acquired that skill as yet.

What was the wording of your enquiry? Many emails we get say something like 'free postage over £100?' and you kind of think if you can't be bothered asking a polite question.......

Hi, no I politely said to the company that I was about to order the item and was hit with a high postage making it more expensive, I simply asked if they would like to match the price of competitors. They then came back with the email I posted! It only required a yes or no answer.

  6. I just laughed my socks off reading that! I know where they're coming from, but it's not exactly a very good way to say it. Trouble nowadays with the internet is that so many people expect free this and free that. ****** could perhaps have said "we are unable to offer free postage however items posted together will be done so at a reduced rate" or something. The person replying to your email was probably having a bad day.

Absolutely, yes agreed it’s annoying people wanting discounts and margins are being squeezed to the point they are only making a few pounds on internet sales but that’s the business they choose to be in. If they wanted instead to set up as a local supplier who makes a healthy margin with lower volume then that’s fine I think this chap in question should do that. Or do as I advised him and to do is pay someone else to answer his company’s emails.

My gripe is that they want silly money to post to the highlands of Scotland.

  7. This is a copy of an email from ***** when I dare ask if they would do free postage on a large order...

    Hi

When the carriers and royal mail give me free postage i will pass that on untill then, if you want your postage for free go elsewhere

    Regards
