  2. Hi all, has anyone had the need to use 'CELOX' or 'Quikclot', not sure what to get for the first aid pouch, comes in different weights for the powder, or should I go for the impregnated bandage? any advice? much appreciated, Andy
  3. Hi Bob, based in south east Cornwall, pasty country!!

  5. RECENTLY BOUGHT MYSELF A TIRFOR 1.6TON WINCH, SECOND HAND, VERY GOOD CONDITION BUT NO CABLE. BOUGHT SEPERATELY THE 11.5MM STEEL HAWSER SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS MODEL, ALSO ARRIVED. HERES THE RUB, HOW DO I GET THE CABLE TO FEED THROUGH THE TIRFOR? FIRST TIME IV'E PLAYED WITH ONE, SO NEED ADVICE UNDERSTANDING WHAT LEVER DOES WHAT, CAN ANYONE GUIDE ME THROUGH? MUCH APPRECIATED.
  6. I use motorola pmr446's, they are waterproof and they bounce! they use the uhf carrier wave, ideal for tree to ground comms, very clear, they can be set up for vox, basically no buttons to push(voice activated). Get a couple of 'D' ring ear pieces with inline mic's on ebay. Activate the 'roger beep' so you don't keep having to say 'over' all the time. Works a treat, good for safety, comms between climber and groundy very important.
  7. Both neighbours have agreed on a height of approx 40' through their solicitors!!! what's the matter with some folks!!! Yes, both trees are fairly symmetrical, lower crown radius approx 30', mid crown about the same, top 30% runs to top point at about 60' above ground.
  8. I have been asked to reduce and thin the crown on two mature 60' alders bordering two properties. After a prolonged dispute between two neighbours, solicitors letters have finally resolved this. This is the first time I have worked on an alder, and would be grateful for any advice, I have been asked to start as soon as possible, but I'm led to believe the winter is the best time to prune alder if at all, Any advice is appreciated, many thanks Andy.
  9. Hi geoff, took saw back and had a new rim sprocket fitted, seems to be ok now!!
  10. Hi stuart, used the saw for about 2 hours before i noticed it, had a new rim sprocket fitted, seems to have done the trick!!
  11. Hi charlie, bar was good, seems to have been the rim sprocket!!
  12. Hi chris, i tried a new chain, was no different. Had a new rim sprocket fitted, cured???
  13. Hi andrew, sorry for slow response, had a new rim sprocket fitted, cured. Maybe a bad casting??
  14. Hi bob, sorry for slow reply, been busy, using the good weather, took it back to supplier, they fitted a new rim sprocket, and it seems to have cured the problem, maybe it was a slightly off centre casting. If left could have caused vibration damage to crank maybe??
  15. Hi, just recently bought a brand new 346xp. When i adjust chain correctly, and turn it slowly on bar, it stays at the correct tension apart from one place during the full rotation, where chain drops and goes slack only by 2-3mm, but it is noticeable, then if i continue to rotate chain, it returns to correct tension again, i have checked chain for any tight rivets, has any one else had any similar problems with the 346xp. Wondering if its something bent or off centre somewhere. Anyone know of anything similar? Regards andy
  16. Thanks for the reply stephen, know what you mean about getting it all back together, good news is i don't have to borrow mates metal detector to find part. Thanks again and best regards andy b
