  1. Faster than who? I know guys who I consider to be top of their game, one even has a BSc Arb to boot and they are still worried about their jobs. There just isn't the kind of money you are expecting in the job at the moment. If cash is you motivation get down tesco, if you like tree work then perhaps you need go get off you pedistool.

With all due respect a BSc is a knowledge thing.. not an ability rating..

  2. Just out of interest. What is the exact figure that you think you are worth? And how did you come to that figure?

I'm genuinely interested as I work out my day rate on overheads, equipment, insurance etc etc not how quick I can bash out a reduction?

Frank i think your starting to get arsey arent you.... if you knock a job off early then you move onto another job which means your getting through the jobs quicker and making your money faster.. its not rocket science..

  3. I wasn't trying to say that your ability wasn't worth alot more than £50 a day. I was trying to point out the attitude that you seemed to come across with.

If you had said something along the lines of " my qualifications and experience lead me to firmly believe that I am worth a high wage as my work ethics and capabilities will not only be a huge asset to any company but also my speed and agility will be so productive that maximum profit will be achieved by the company enabling them to be able to afford to pay me such a premium wage even through an economic downturn where other companies are struggling".

Then maybe you might have got a different response.

    Thanks Frank

  4. there is a fine line between being stubborn and being stupid!

but then you seam to have plenty of arrogance.

Anyway it’s a desperate wages or desperate for wages, its your choice ;)

Im not desperate for wages mate.. i just wana work for one company and be paid what im worth

  5. Brodie, if you don't mind me asking:

what's happened to all your other jobs in the last 11 years?

retrospectivly.. I have been an idiot.. I have moved from company to company trying to gain experience of tree work from different angles powerlines - railways = domestic... it has helped me to become the tree surgeon i am now but.. however i have had some really good jobs and i probably should have stayed put...

  6. Opening a thread with "I can't and won't work for low wages" isn't gonna sell your ability.

My ability is worth far more than £50 a day.. If i go and work for these desperate wages i wont be taken seriously.. Thats just how it is.. I want to move forwards not backwards and if being stubborn is the only way then stubborn it is..

  7. Speed is only half of it mate theres been numerous threads about climbers vs groundie sort of thing and if you knock the tree down to a mess on the floor the groundie is oging to have a tough time clearing it all up so making the job take longer.

Yeah thats fair enough mate and very true.. im just trying to sell my ability..

  8. Jesus wept Brodie, what sets you apart from all the other qualified and experienced people that call me weekly and are willing to work for £70 a day?

These ppl... are they pretty new to the trade 5yrs or less.. iv got 11yrs under my belt.. i have a lot of experience to bring with me to any employer.. plus i am a very fast climber.. obviously i cant prove that on a wall post.. the last guy i did a trial for, i got down out of the first tree i reduced for him and he said to me wow your worth your wait in gold you mate.. ill never forget that.. shame he didnt want to pay for the gold either.. where are you mick? dya want me to do a days trial for you?

  9. how are you paying the bills at the moment then??

im working for a few differant ppl.. i take between £80 - £100 per day, but i dont wana be organising who im working for from day to day

seriously mate £50 is nothing,, this is exactly the reason why us good, experienced climbers cant find well paid work

  10. I'd rather work 5 days a week for £50 a day doing a job I loved and go home happy to my family every day than work for £100 a day and spend all my time moaning about how crap my job is.

    Maybe just me.

Fair play to ya frank... You go work for your £50 a day... I wouldnt get out of bed for it mate... that wont even pay the bills..

  11. Plumbers and joiners are skilled tradesman :lol:

Mozza.. i dont think ppl will appreciate you calling us all unskilled.. we are extremely skilled and and our jobs are very very dangerous.. as you should know.. a lack of concentration in our trade could result in loss of life... hence insurance premiums being so high..

  12. i know plumbers and joiners and other people in silly (non-dangerous) trades who earn plenty of cash.. £150 per day on the books is an easy achievement... why is our trade paid the way it is... Obviously there are too many people learning the trade and are willing to work for peanuts... Tesco's workers earn as much as most climbers... wheres the fairness in that.. Maybe i should change my trade instead of being made a fool of by the newbies and the greedy employers..!!!!

  13. Depends on the circumstances.. If it's local or if im supplied a vehicle to travel with I would be happy with about £80 per day after tax... If I have to re-locate I would want about £100 - £130 per day.. If I was to move abroad then thats dependent on living costs in that country..

  14. I have 11yrs Exp as a climber and 8yrs Exp as a team leader, I have worked for Utility companys, Railway companys, Highways, I have 5yrs Exp working for smaller companys doing domestic work for individual customers, I have a vast knowledge of arboriculture and I CAN NOT FIND WORK ANYWHERE..

I am willing to re-locate anywhere in the UK and even abroad to find a well paid job. I have contacted a few companys down south and even they dont want to pay well..

Seems most of the companys out there are looking for young, freshly trained climbers who will work for peanuts to get their foot in the door... I CANT AND WONT WORK FOR A LOW WAGE.

I am getting nowhere, im getting fed-up of trying and am now considering learning a new trade which I really dont want to do because I love working with trees and because its something im really good at..can anybody PLEASE steer me in the right direction to find a well paid job...

OR,, if you are an employer who pays well, Give me the opportunity to show you my ability, I will travel anywhere in the UK to one of your site's, I will do a full days work trial for you for FREE... You will not be disapointed..
