"The part you require is now obsolete, but the release knob has change slightly on how it fits, unfortunately Tirfor do not have any up to date drawing to show you the new part. Enclosed old drawing. the release Knob No. 1433 has change and know fits into No. 1426. price as follows

    Release Knob No. 151795. @ £9.96 + vat

    Pin No. 1575. @ £1.28 + vat

    Circlip. No. 82646. @ £0.90p + vat

Carriage extra or you can arrange your self."

Also sent me a old parts diagram for the machine which I attach for reference. My Knob is just fine so it looks like for a couple of quid I'm back in business.

3 cheers for the boy and girls at Arbil, great service!!!!!!!

  2. No not a shear pin, having just got off the phone to Arbil, who are being very helpful and sending me the parts diagram for the machine. They also can and will service the machine if needed. Thanks for the Speedy Lifting heads up.

  3. Well I have spoken to Arbil, who sent me a parts diagram for their TU32 model, which was not the same as mine but at least I now know I need a new clutch pin and not a thingy for the wotsit. Best guess is that they serviced/ LOLER these for the army.

Have mailed them back with these photo's but not had a reply as yet, might be the inclusion of photo's has sent my message into their spam box??

Just as an aside given that this was army issue, why no carrying handle ???

  4. Bought an old ex army tirfor, that has given great service since purchase. Unfortunately I have had the Clutch pin break. Wondering if anyone has had a simular problem and how they sourced the part/parts.

I have attached hopefully a picture that might help identify the make model.

    Many thanks

  5. An other tree butcher has recently acquired this new saw. I have had an opportunity to use it and found it was slow to get on the power band in comparison to the T200.

    My T200 still works.

For the foresee able future I think I will stay put, if only my service engineer could fix the saw not stopping when I would like.

  6. Felled out a sweet chestnut and found this in the base, lucky for me I missed the metalwork with the saw, the photos don't really show the two metal posts and length of chain, but I guess that their presence caused the rot to form in the base?

  7. My old and trusty Jonsered 2055 has finally slipped the mortal coil and will need to be replaced, thinking of going with the MS-280, being a little non technical will the bars and chains from the Jonsered fit the Sthil??

Have been recommended to put an additive into my two stroke oil a thing called ZX-1, web address ZX1 Home anybody using it or something similar, the cost of a new saw at this time is a real pain, and if these additives make it last a bit longer then I'm thinking its worth a try.

    Cheers

  8. Won one in the Xmas raffle, made up by old snake. Lovely job on the splicing in use its fine maybe a bit on the thin side if I was to have any criticism, that's for a hitch climber set up, which in it's self is a bit of an acquired taste.

Seem to think old snake has done some testing on it.

  9. When I used to teach advanced motorcycling there were always one or two riders that would not accept that their bad practices were dangerous on account that they had never had an accident. They were accidents waiting to happen. Despite training and supervision these bad practices are always going to creep in and while as a employer we have a duty of care and as mrtree says we should demand a safety culture, our employees have to take responsibility for their own and others safety in the work place.

  10. Will be interesting to see what birds use them and in what density. Have know bird boxes enlarged and made smaller dependant on speices. Visually stunning lets hope our feathered friends find it so appealing . Is there a project in place to map there nesting success?
