  2. Right easier to post on here as I wasn't expecting quite that many PM's..lol

    Japa 300 (13hp Honda engine)

Riko A9 (reverse to normal mine is where ram pushes wood through 2/4 way splitting blades)6hp Subaru engine

Unbranded sawbench similar to Oxdale/Riko ones with 6hp Honda engine. (6hp doesn't sound enough but believe me its brilliant)

    Stihl 660 30"

    Stihl 441 20"

    Stihl 361 18"

    Stihl 341 15"

I also have some axes and logging mauls which might be of use to someone and the branch logger (SM70) might go aswell I haven't made my mind up on that yet and the briquette (POR Junior) machine might be up for grabs again not made my mind up yet

There might be more things yet I will try to get a little more sorted tomorrow, If you want to ask anything about products give me a ring on 07778815947 please, please, please no tyre kickers as you wont get a very positive response from me.

    Thanks Phil

  3. I've decided to give up doing seasoned logs so selling all my firewood production stuff. Processor, Sawbench, Splitter, Chainsaws all going as I'm venturing into something new.I'm going to make a list up if anyone is interested please pm me.

    Thanks Phil

  4. Next week's almost booked up with deliveries already. Dry but only semi-seasoned stuff going out for the last week or so now but mine still look a lot better than some of my competitors logs I've seen being delivered. The customers dont even question the fact when I tell them it's logs for next season being delivered and they're not really ready to burn yet. I give them the option but they just say "Thats Fine, when can you deliver??"

  5. I don't see the need to get accredited. If you sell dry logs the customers will keep coming back and if you sell wet rubbish they will shop around until the get decent stuff. I did chat with the Heatas people at the APF but the person I spoke to knew so little about logs and drying it was embarrassing. If the inspectors who would check us were as clueless as the person I spoke to it would make the whole scheme pointless. I am sure having their name on your website would get a few new people through the door but I don't think it would make much difference in the long run as I think customers shop around until they are happy.

You've hit the nail on the head. Complete waste of time as people will shop around until they're happy with product anyway.

  6. Dear all -

Interested to know what format the kiln dried firewood suppliers deliver in?

Specifically, volume of load, wrapped on a pallet, in a bulk bag, vented bulk bag, loose loads etc etc??

As a customer what is the prefered format?

Pricing always varies regionally, but always interesting to see.

    Cheers

Give Simon a ring at "Kilndriedlogs.co.uk" a ring.

  7. Can't remember if I asked before (sorry if I did) - do you put coppice poles through yours Phil or is it more joinery type wood?

It does a lovely job on green willow poles(I haven't tried any other timber), but I only really use joinery waste for the kindling as it's mostly ready kiln dried.

  8. I've got the SM70 and reckon i've done roughly 500+ nets this winter alone all sold as kindling and just started doing much smaller nets aswell and it's flying out. Machine has paid for itself twice over. Once Welmac agree for me to have the first self propelled 110mm machine(foc) as a demonstrator for customers to view and take netted product to show their potential customers I'll be a happy bunny!!!lol

  9. Get the money don't deal with him ever again, Its always good to come on here and let it off your chest. Your not the only one with clients like this we are working with Jo Public at the end of the day. Woods not dry enough, I though you would of taken more off then that.

We could work for free and they would still moan and ask for money off. Have a cizer as John/Medip says

I might have just one tonight but i'm flat out delivering again tommorow so a clear head needed. But as of next Friday from 1pm onwards i is going to consume lots and lots of "Cizer" as Jon would say:thumbup:

  10. Why is it there is always the odd customer thats a "Mr Know it all" cut logs for years ,seasoned logs for years and generally knows it all about firewood but orders at the first cold snap and complains wood isn't seasoned enough:sneaky2: I reckon i've done about 30 odd cube this week and everyone happy accept this one P***k. The timber he had had been in the barn since the spring and was bone dry. And he then asks why I'm so busy this time of year because as I'd told him nearly all customers order as many logs in the summer as they can hold as year after year I've tried to educate them to do this, what I forgot to say is all those customers also require second and third loads throughout the season. The best bit I had e-mailed off him was perhaps I didn't like to hear negative feedback. When you work hard all year to reap the rewards through the cold winter months it can be a bit soul distroying.

    Thanks Phil
