  1. or maybe not new to you at all.

I spotted some of these in Finland about 10 years ago and bought the idea back here to Scotland where they seem to have taken root.

    it's a simple construction.

4m of stock fencing with ends wired together.

    2 tier.

A neighbor of mine has built some that are getting on for 10m in diameter.

    He deals in wood.

I run my house on wood so mine are just wee. I have 11 of them now and I use about 4 per winter.

You have to lash the lids pretty tightly here. we get high winds.

If you build one yourself, take care to offer the cover a rounded profile of log or it will chaff through. A forklift palate or similar will keep your logs off the deck.

So there you are, everything but the girl could be yours.

you must of bean along the gorthleck road to see them

  2. help

how do you work out how much wood is in the stack

ive bought some wood form the fc

pile is 5 m long and the bottom of the pipe 3 m long at the top 1.5 m high lenth of wood is 2.4 m all pine avg "6 to "8 dia

    cheers gibby

  3. as per treequip says.

or use windows PC calc (calc.exe) in scientific view

    the x^2 button

    i.e. input 0.2375 then hit the x^2 button to give 0.05640625 (same as 0.2375 x 0.2375 = 0.05640625)

sorry but where is the 0.2375 coming out of

  4. Treequips equation was right he just put the wrong m3 ;)

    475mm dia / 2 = 237.5mm (0.2375m) radius

    [0.2375m radius x 0.2375m radius] x 3.14 π (short Pi) x 5m length = 0.885577m3 volume

    using longer Pi its ~0.8863839285714279m3

whats the squared buttom on a cal look like

  6. I got a set of stud extractors off the snap-on man. They aren't cheap (about £85 for 5) but worth every penny. Much better than the LH thread ones. They've never let me down and i've not bust one yet :) you drill the right size hole, hammer them in and windy gun the bolt out. Brilliant!!
