  1. Think I'll follow the steps in the post from Mike Hill in the hope that it can be fixed. Failing that I'll probably just get another one
  2. It continues to run but as there's obviously a problem I usually stop it and give up. Then yes it will clear but the same thing happens again. Sometimes it works fine for a couple of jobs but then another day I get this problem.
  3. All checked and ok. It's driving me nuts - as I said one day it works perfectly and then a week later it doesn't. Taken it to be fixed a couple of times and it worked ok when I got there 😩 It's a bloody joker
  4. That was the first assumption. Apparently no problems there - no moisture and always keeping tank full to avoid this. Not sure about debris in the tank - is it easy to tell ?
  5. Mixture of white and grey really but not black
  6. Pretty sure it's a Kabota engine
  7. Just wondered if anyone has any ideas ! Over the last couple of years I continue to have the same problem with the 6inch chipper. Worst thing about it is that it's intermittent One day it's fine and then 2 days later it throws out smoke and indicates a fuel problems. I've probably spent thousands going backwards and forwards to have it fixed. I think almost every part has been replaced and still the problem keeps happening. It's got to the stage that neither I or the Chipper Services can sort it out and it's costing me a small fortune. I always keep it full of fuel to eliminate any posiblity of water in the fuel. Anyone got any thoughts on this one

    Day Rates

What's the usual daily rate for a groundsman ? Also for a gardener. I appreciate experience comes into this but just interested in what might be considered standard.
  9. Thanks to you all - I've got plenty to work on now. Your humour is greatly appreciated - think that's what keeps us sane. They better not come back !!!
  10. Hi, Garage was broken into overnight on Thursday 22nd - pretty much all the good stuff gone :( They certainly knew what they were looking for - the few items left needed attention. Broke in through bottom of garden in the dead of the night - evil scumbags. In the process of getting some security i.e. lights etc. Can anyone recommend something not too complicated that has an alarm good enough to scare the devil ?? Maybe something that works off sensors. Would be grateful for any advice. Sy
  11. Thanks Giles - that's exactly what I'm planning to do subject to the client agreeing.
  12. That's ok - none taken:biggrin: It's good to know you're all out there willing to give the benefit of your experience to others. I've been doing land management and tree surgery for 5 to 6 years but learn something new every day. Many thanks from one dude to another:cool1:
  13. Presumably the client had to pay for all the professional work to be done!
  14. Exactly what I was looking for - thanks for taking the time out to do this - hopefully you're asleep now:sleep1: I'm new to the forum so I expect it will take a bit of time to get used to things. Must admit I was beginning to think i was being told off:scared1:
  15. I hope the tree doesn't get written off and I have no intension of just waking away:001_rolleyes: My reason for joining this forum was to seek advice from those more experienced than myself. I've never come across this in the last five years and whilst I understand the potential damage this can create I don't feel that I'm experienced enough to assess the current damage to the tree. My first thought was to call the Tree Officer at the Local Authority because of the TPO - he just advised me to get the Research Centre to do an assessment on it. However this service isn't free and one would expect that this would have to be done by the client. All I really wanted was clear cut information on exactly what action to take. I don't want to fell the tree but I also don't want the tree to fall on their house. I was hoping for a simple answer to what I thought was a simple question - I will of course provide as much information to the client as I can:confused:
  16. I suppose thats why I'm concerned about it!! So providing I provide the client with enough information and details of suitably qualified person with Prof ind then I'm ok? I have the Forestry Research Centre local to me (govt run) can I assume they are professional enough? Thank for your time on this one. I'll probably be the person who has to fell it which is a shame - however I expect they will be more concerned about their house.
  17. Cheers - cute little girl - is she going to be a tree surgeon when she grows up as well:biggrin:
  18. Thanks, I dead wooded this tree a while back and just by change when re-visiting the garden I noticed this. There is a TPO on this tree and I'm trying to work out where responsibility lies. I don't actually want to find out the extent of any damage and certainly don't want to go and check the tree at 3 monthly intervals. I spoke to the local authority today and their advice was to go to the Forestry Research Centre to get it analysed! However it's not my tree but I don't want to have to worry about it falling on their house. What do you think - just let the owners know as I suspect it will end up being their problem. ??
  19. Well the tree is still living so I imagine alive timber. These are near the base of the tree and also further up the trunk.
  20. I'm fairly sure that the pictures in this link shows ganoderma rescinaseum on a mature oak. Picasa Web Albums - hunter.ani - ganoderma res... A few questions - do i need to get confirmation of this or is it obvious from the photos? If confirmed should the tree be felled? The crown is showing signs of dieback -could that be related to this? To be honest I'd like as much information/advice as possible due to the fact that its a big tree and is leaning towards someone's house:scared1: Cheers and good to find this site:001_smile:
