Why specifically climbing rope?

I tried surfing le'internet and quickly came to the conclusion that its much easier to use the ipad.

Oh the browser on the phone is truly dreadful, but it works fine as a WiFi hotspot.

The advantage of the tight eye is that it keeps the biner (or what have you) better aligned and reduces the chance of side loading.

But the disadvantage is that you cannot unclip and reclip it.

What biner are you using?

I have a selection. None look like they'll go through without difficulty.

Easy to enough to order a rope with a bigger eye if you prefer.

Well yes, I'll know that for next time, but it had never occurred to me that anyone might want a loop that small.

Meanwhile I need to decide whether to send the rope back or try it out. I'm hoping someone will convince me what a wonderful idea it is and why I'd be so much better with this one rather than what I am used to.

The battery life is stunning.... I bought mine on 15th April (six weeks ago) and have recharged it 3 times (and it still has loads of battery life in it before the next recharge)!

It doesn't last so long if you use it for an internet connection, but you wouldn't expect it to.

The ring tones are a cross between a Bolywood CD playing in your favourite curry house and supermarket music on a slow day.... absolutely dire!

I can put up with the ring tones, but not as message alerts, especially as it also uses them for message delivery receipts. I've had to turn mine off.

The alarm tone I use reminds me of the Adams Family.

I've not found an option to change the alarm tone, nor the volume: it is too -ing loud.

I hate inserting a number 1 into a text message!

Just hold down the key. It's a bit slow, but it works.

I find it a pain to change to capitals and back, but I have to admit that it is the best phone I've had for texting in Arabic.

Just chuck a piece of wood on it and play to start with. Sycamore is quite nice to turn and I'm sure you can find a bit of that.

My new rope just arrived and the eye is so tight I can barely force a carabina through it.

Doesn't suit how I climb at all.

There's one coming up in Aldi tomorrow by chance, don't know if it's any good, but I will probably be getting one!

I bought one. It is very nearly a really good phone, but that's the same kind of "nearly" as in "nearly made it over the chasm".

I think the hardware is pretty near the money for what I want: claims a fortnight of standby battery life, can act as a mobile WiFi hotspot or happily tethers via bluetooth or USB.

But I get the impression that the programmers who set up the operating system haven't actually used a phone: almost everything about it I think they've got wrong.

Hopefully they'll put out a firmware update sometime, or some geeks will hack a fix...

Curious how they make the distinction. If we mostly do tree surgery with an occasional strimming job once a month or less, then that's professional, but Richard uses his just for the garden at his house (a mansion with 30 acres) and that is domestic...

Can anyone advise on the battery specifications for this chipper?

Physical size is one thing and easily found, but the more important question is cranking capacity, which is not so easy...

It is I believe, some sort of damson.

Granted, up to now it has not been cultivated for fruit, but that is no reason not to start.

There are certain exception to the act but i dont think this is one.

If the tree is fairly isolated use 'Fen traps' at the base of the tree with a cover over, to protect from cats, observe the route used by the squirrels, or bait another area to the fen traps.

They don't mind the squirrels in general, just don't want them in the house.

I have been approached by a lady who has squirrels nesting in her son's bedroom.

It seems they are getting in through the eaves via a tree branch.

The suggested remedy is to remove the branch, but the tree is in a conservation area.

So, the question is: does the indirect hazard of disease from the squirrels make the tree dangerous enough to remove the branch without awaiting permission?

Try your insurance company first mate. They might have a different view on it. Somebody elses operations endangering your property and their policy might not go down too well.

There is even a chance that the removal might be covered by the policy.

And these days it is difficult to buy a policy that doesn't have legal expenses: if so then you should be chasing the neighbour for replacement as well as removal.

Somebody here will be able to tell you how to put a price on that.
