  1. Hi guys

Starting a clearance job in Worksop on 15th January. There is going to be a good few poplar butts that need to be gotten rid of.

Probably about a dozen or more. About 4-5 metre lengths and between 2-3 feet diameter. Mixture of lombardy and manchester.

Pretty good access on hard ground. Would be able to get a wagon and grab right up to them.

    I can be reached on 07837 498926

    Cheers Mark

  2. Hi Guys

I know this is a longshot.

I have been contracted to fell some trees in Nottingham tomorrow at very short notice. As I am based in Leeds, I am wondering if there is anywhere to tip woodchip and whether anybody is interested in the logs for firewood?? All hardwood.

I will be onsite tomorrow (20th.) and again on Saturday.

    Thanks Mark

  4. Hi Guys,

I have probably 20-30 ton of logs to dispose of. Its probably 70% softwood and 30% hardwood.

All in rounds or handleable size lengths.

Its just whats accumulated from treework over the last few years.

Its at a farm just outside Leeds. I could possibly help with loading.

Free to anybody who wants it. Can reach me on 07837498926.

    Regards Mark

  5. Hi guys,

I run a 2001 timberwolf 150 and am thinking of upgrading (or maybe just refurbing existing one)

I wanted to ask what people thought I should expect to get for my current chipper. It works and chips pretty good and it starts first time , every time, and the engine has never missed a beat in 10 years ownership, but it does have quite a few issues that need sorting.

Could really do with new bottom roller (has old cast one and is pretty worn)

    Brakes need total overhaul

    Blade pockets need replacing

    Tiny leak on radiator.

    Needs new jockey wheel

Needs lights sorting (probably just wiring needs checking)

    Catch on hopper needs fixing

Could do with a paint job

    It has done 1962 hours

    Regards Mark

  6. Well put mate.

I was interested in canopy pics because they can help in guessing what state the butt is in, pretty much as per Spirals post.

Does seem a shame, but if it was worth a TPO it should have had one.

The canopy is in great health...no dieback at all.

I shall do as spiral suggests and post pics if they are worth it.

    And thanks for advise Spiral.

  7. No problem, sorry if I misinterpreted your comments.

It might well be that the owners want the tree gone b4 the planning app. goes in, I don't know.

For certain reasons, I have not been privy to that info so cannot answer that question.

Yes, the tree is a beauty but like I said, it's coming down no matter what, so I decided to accept the job.

  8. I guess that means you're not interested in the timber. If so, Fair enough.

    I didn't think I'd be insulted ( thinly veiled).

Never mind. I'll just fell it and get on with my uncomfortable and sun reading life

    Cheers

  9. Agreed, there was no response to the question in #10. It happens... Maybe one of the TOs on the forum will see it and take an interest, stranger things have happened.

There was no response to question no. 1 either....I just wanted to know if the timber was worth more to someone to mill rather than to me as firewood.

The trees coming down whether I fell it or someone else. As to the comment about a TO, why not really say what you mean.
