  1. don't know where you are but were in worcester and have a big 4wd tractor and winch and would be interested in the oak buts

i have decided to sell it standing but you can give me a price for it many thanks Grant

  2. dave madgewick at vastern timber company is your man best payer i have ever worked for and a really really fine gentlman mobile 077674435565 say you got his number from stuart thorne good luck:001_smile:

    thanks for that stuart

  3. My first thought would be skyline if the bank is really steep. However they'd be quite expensive to hire in i would of thought. My next thought would be a double drum winch pulling things upto a landing in tree lengths and processing then forwarding to roadside.

A lot of the stuff will be too big for most processors so it will be chainsaw and splitter teratory. The smaller ash and birch would be good processor stuff though. the 20-50" Ash and Oak buts are best sold road side for the mill. Good quality oak would get you around £8 hoppus foot maybe 6 for the ash. Worth seing what length the mill wants the stuff in before cutting. Also 30-50" oak but will be very very heavy so you'll need some pull on the winch to get stuff up. Also quite a loader to put it on the lorry.

I'd say not less that a 6.5 tonne winch closer to 9 would be better. Double drum better than single as you are more efficent that way.

yep exactly what needs to be done. in a worst case scenario its firewood but the bigger-better quality stuff will be going to the mill and after a few calls with members of here today thats the route it will be going. its to big a job for me to take on so it will be sold standing.

  4. A well trained horse with Spikes/Heels n Toes shoes would do the work. Tree lengths extraction and voice control.

agreed but i would`nt risk my horses on it when a skyline or winch will be a lot quicker and safer

  5. Totally agree - all this negative doom/gloom stuff!

I have about 300-400 'regular' customers. One of them has been made redundant. The rest HAVE NOT! But this harbinging has caused 3 jobs to be postponed in the last 18 months due to people 'holdin back' and I would guess a few of the less frequent customers may have not even contacted me because of thi pumped up anxiety.

I wonder how often these things are expounded either for some political purpose or because something really bad is happening elsewhere and they are trying to divert our attention.

They say that only bad news sells - maybe someone should try publishing good news - can you imagine a paper (or FORUM..) where headlines read,

'Young arborist sweeps footpath every 5 miumtes during work so old folk can walk safely by, and the old folk are really grateful'

Or 'I left my car for 3 days and came back to find it still there'

Or 'Instant drop in fuel prices as crude oil prices fall'

Am I just getting old? I too never watch the news and don't read papers.

I look at the BBC website and just read what looks interesting - don't care about biggots, racists, chavs, 'travellers', villains and coouldn't give a stuff about self publicising celebrities.

Aaaaaah all this thinking is driving me insane (I'm turning into Roger Waters)

Maybe I'll end up walking down Worthing High street with an MS200 in each hand and get on the news myself (Note to MI6 and anti-terrorist squad... thats just a joke).

if there was a like button it would have been pressed firmly
