Bucket on your loader, process into a tump, scoop them up and into the trailer. What is the prize?
I think taking the ramp off is the simplest option. The logs are in bags so wont fall out and taking the ramp off will only take a minute.
-
Do the sides not just come off with a couple of bolts? If the ramp folds down take it off the pins then load it with whatever you like. Or use a compact loader that will drive up the ramps. Or failing that buy a cheap flat bed trailer to use with the logs.
My sister lives in northumberland, can she have my prize?

I'm a bit north of bristol, Herefordshire. We work coppice full time and make fencing from it. You are welcome to drop me a PM for a chat. Though it is a bit more industry than art

Try Gary Alexander at the Beech Tree insurance (look on google), he's always done us a good quote and can tailor your insurance to what you do. That way your not paying the same rate as a high risk job.

It has been a very usefull thing. Only selling as I've bought a few bits of kit recently and I cant have it all.....
Been using it for pulling stuff about in the woods, very controlled, works on friction.
It has pulled the landy and a fully loaded trailer 100m across a flooded field, which was very handy.

Where do I get a poacher alarm?
We had a bloke turn up with a jcb and help his self to the wood.
The police didnt take it seriously, even though they had information where it was.
It's gutting to think someones keeping warm on my hard work.

I had it on the 2.5td,
I'll take some pictures tomorrow and have a go at putting them up.

Not sure about td5, may be worthwhile measuring distance from front bumper to crank shaft pulley. The pto shaft is easy to change length. aparrently. though I've not done it.

I'm selling my capstan winch.
Suitable for a defender.
A very usefull tool for pulling stuff about and lowering.
Comes with all the brackets, crank dog, pto shaft and brand new rope.
Very easy to fit, bolts on in place of the front bumper.
I reconditioned the pto shaft last year, new uj and crank dog lugs.
£400

It's all done by hand, which doesnt take very long and is quite a nice way to earn money.
We pay our palers £1 per foot per bundle of 25 which is over the going rate if you ask me, but there you go....
Then we wire it with a 1960's walkalong do about 3 rolls an hour, a lot of people do it a lot faster.

What I am looking at consists of a group of people who have an interest in buying land for the enjoyment of their local community and as a sustainable site for indigenous species of flora and fauna.
e.g. Here in Tewkesbury 88 acres of amenity land has become available (for sale by a builder), so I have got a small group of people together with the aim of presenting a management plan to the Environment Agency and then, if we get their approval, to raise matched funding to buy and plant the land.
I am also part of a smilar group which has set-up a charity to do the same thing just east of Malvern, however this group are still looking for suitable land.
So if you were interested in starting a similar project in herefordshire I can provide you with a guide to the main phases and contacts but unfortunately as, at the moment, this is all done on a self funding basis, you are too far away for me to get directly involved.
However, it is very rewarding and interesting so if you are thinking of doing this I would urge you to give it a go.
Sounds complicated and expensive to me
I was only asking as I've a woodland services business based in Herefordshire, working west midlands and welsh borders, if you need a hand....07811852704
good luck

Where abouts are you?
Would you sell the tractor on its own?
How do I send a pm ?

But theres only one vehicle that'll go any where, spend a day dragging trees about in the woods, then pull a loaded trailer through a boggy field and onto a motorway.
Admittedly slowly with ice on the inside of the windscreen 'cos the heater doesnt work, then break down and have to be recovered.
Parts are cheap, they're easy to work on, aluminium body means they look good even when completly rusted away underneath.
And the Queens got one.

Coppice is a funny one, some times landowners want silly cash, some times they're just happy to have it kept in rotation and sometimes they pay me to cut it. It doesnt always corespond to quality.

I'm in Herefordshire Bernard, are you looking to buy a wood or looking for people to buy one with you?
-
very true.
I'll always prefer getting wood of someone friendly, though just started dealing with the forestry commission which is an experience!
Paid about £500 for 1.6 hect. of chestnut thinning(singling) cant remember the volume off the top of my head.
I'd rather be told the price a owner wants than all this secret auction pulaver. Obviously they want the best price possible but a few woodland owners are a bit optimistic!
Folk like to keep what they pay a bit secret for some reason, a bit more openess would probably help all concerned.Maybe we could start a chart or something.........
-
cheers, a bit more than i was planning to pay, I'll let you know how I get on.
