  1. Not expecting a great response here after looking through the other posts, but if there's a competent body who can put an eye on my (recently severed) new England tachyon there's money waiting for you. Looks like I'll have to post it down to honey brother's otherwise. I'm based across the water from liverpool on the wirral.

    Thanks

    Brett

  2. Due to me hanging up my harness and moving into the surveying side of the business, one of my regular employers is now a man down.

You'll have to be able to work efficiently and at a reasonable pace, nothing ridiculous, but he hasn't got time to help you improve or learn on the job as it were, so if you aren't happy hanging a 066 off your belt yet, it's probably not for you.

He's a good bloke, have worked with him for years now, based on the Wirral so you'll have to be prepared to travel there.

Be allsorts from conifer bashing one day to rigging down the next.

    His names Justin, 07807596665

  3. I come with 3 saws, 020T, 026 and a 395XP husqy, big lowering kit, and 20+ years experience.

£120 is a mid range figure to work from, some people pay me more depending on the job, some people pay me less if they guarantee me regular work.

I'd not try to be too greedy to start with, there's lot's and lot's more lads out there who can fill your space in the employers eye's, and unless you're, to coin a phrase, "**** hot" you won't be able to command top dollar unfortunately.

Good luck with it, but competition is only getting stronger mate. Add as many strings to your bow as you can.

  4. Just googled it.

The simple explanation is that "colder than a witch's tit" is just a vivid metaphor, like "hotter than the hinges of hell." Since a

witch is in league with Satan, presumably she has no maternal feelings. Thus the medium by which she would suckle a child is,

well, cold as a witch's tit.

But there's some history behind this wisecrack. A witch's tit (or witch's teat, to use the older spelling) supposedly left a marking

that witch hunters and courts would look for on the body of an accused person. Supposedly, witches would suckle their

familiars, and sometimes the Devil himself, from this "unholy" body part. To find these marks, as well as insensitive spots on the

skin called devil's marks--caused by the Devil's claws or teeth--the suspects were stripped, shaven, then closely examined for

any blemishes, moles, or even scars that could be labeled as diabolical. To find marks invisible to the eye, the examiner would

poke the victim inch by inch with a blunt needle (called a bodkin) until they found a spot that didn't feel pain or bled. Discovery

of these marks or spots--one supposes they would be considered cold since they were a sign of communion with the

Devil--would be "proof" of the person's dealings with Scratch, so they would be shown in full court before the execution.

Yes,i have too much tme on my hands today and i really should be doing something more usefull......

  5. Human planet BBC1 Thursday at 8pm.

Looks like they'll be in the Altai mountains in Mongolia, shows how they take a bird as a chick and raise it to hunt for them etc.

    Looks really good.

Have an episode about the BaAka people, climb HUGE tree's with just the vines to collect honey.Health and safety nightmare! :)
