  1. Yes, it's hard in every way to make money out of firewood! reading the thread, everyone has similar problems, Firewood is our 'bread and butter' income through winter, and we dont aim at the 'Tesco' mentality customer,we try to keep the 'good' ones happy and they come back year after year. we make enough to re-invest in kit, but there is always thought on 'how to make this easier', we definately have not got there yet after 25 years!! I think that is because everything is always changing so much, prices, demand, whats available, customers etc.

'how to make this easier'..................... let someone else do it!!

    after 12 years I gave up, 25 years, well I salute you!!!:001_cool:

  2. Processor sold tractors sold big timber trailer sold amount of cord processed this year 0 not missing the back ache yet but who knows

ha ha, me too steve, not looking back either, kept the table top splitter and do firewood for myself and 3 customers only

I only do it when quiet, so 1 week so far since January

I earn more money, and easier money pulling weeds and cutting grass:thumbup::thumbup1:

  3. Try Costco for your mince, they use the rump and sirloin steaks that don't get sold for all their mince, almost all of their cuts are good quality too.

The In house butcher will also cut what you want too if they have it and you are early enough

  4. Nice! I bought a Cypriot bbq last summer 7 small skewers two large, electic motor, mainly for grilling Souvlaki

I saw those, I thought they were ok for kebabs, but I do like to cook bigger meats.

can you cook bigger stuff on them??

  5. I meant wood that was recovered before the locks, it was to be shredded and fed to a 350kW boiler in the senedd building one of my coleagues sold them.

yeah, that was the promise, but it never happened:sneaky2:

all wood that came down the rivers into the bay was used to heat the environment building for the Harbour Authority, which spent as much time running on gas as it did running on wood chip

the senedd first ran on pellets, then went over to wood chip from another supplier, without even a mention to the people who were doing the H.A contract ( I have some knowlege on what happened there) but they made access so tight at the senedd only a transit could fit in

  7. My steaks come out perfect on the bbq, but not so well in the frying pan, I love that bbq pit in your avatar, I saw a Texan one on a yank cooking show

it is probably the same one, its from the salt lick in driftwood texas, never been, but god help me if I do go!!!

  8. I always get 28 day matured sirloin 25mm or thicker with plenty of marble fat running through

marinate in Worcestershire sauce, salt pepper and small amount of chillie peppers for 3 hours in a fridge.

take out of fridge and bring to room temp before cooking under a low heat grill (120 C ) for 20-25 mins, turning regularly ( low and slow creates a soft cooked meat)

serve with potato wedges, fried onions, mushrooms, onion rings and a pepper sauce ( diane sauce if I can find one too)

must have a jack daniels sauce for dipping too

Nice bottle of corona or Rose wine to wash it down

lets be fair, its never just one bottle of corona

I can never seem to cook steak quite right on any of my BBQs though

  9. her time was over as soon as the torys lost to labour ( not when she stepped down as PM, cos she went on to be Majors string puller then), so why drag it up now??

she achieved more than we ever will in our life time, but she did some good and did some bad, you might hate her, you might like her, but one day you will join her!!

she may have taken my milk from school, and taxed me as a student with the poll tax, I may not have liked her then, but I respect her for being a very driven person and getting the job done.

  10. Wasn't sure if you had! Couldn't remember the artic only the bio mass people. I wouldn't want to be the artic driver if ever we sold it!

the biomass lorries were artics too, its tight but but those lorry drivers are good, besides, if they can get down the lane, they can get in the gateway

  11. Timberbear works for local authority!! You may find it difficult in Cardiff and surrounding area, lots of freelance subbies around now.

But ask directly to the companies and get as much experience as you can, some of these guys are really really good it's very competitive now.
