  1. yep good work,

personally i would leave the existing bridge in place if it dont bother, could be usefull as a strop point.

them swivels help alot when you have to turn round.

so long as your happy to work the harness then go for it,every person should be able to grade their own kit to a standard far higher than the polotics of regulations say we have to work too...:001_smile:

    Thanks

Believe me the harness maybe old but it's in far better condition than other harnesses I've seen

I wouldn't use it if it wasn't safe

  2. What you need is something like this. Its a proprietary stitched tape replacement bridge with 2 stainless shackles.

    treequip-albums-general-picture6827-image.jpg

Its used but in good order, its been in a drawer for several years so its age is probably contemporary with your harness.

It can be yours if you want it, just make a donation of a tenner to the children's trust and I will post it to you:thumbup:

That looks just like what I've been looking at getting but the problem is fitting that to the harness itself. At the moment the two metal rings that are holding the leg loops and bridge in place are fixed so I can't replace the bridge or anything unlike the newer design

  3. You do know you need to earth the base of the plug to test it??

It is a simple job to change it - recoil cover off, take off the plug cap, undo the two retaining bolts, take off the kill wire, refit with the new coil and use a business card between the magnets and coil to set the gap. Reclip the kill wire:thumbup:

Yep that one I do know I use what's best described as a mini jump lead and earth it to the chainsaws exhaust

  4. Ok to with the other options then, without a tester you can't be sure but if it hasn't changed since you had it I would check the others first and come back to compression, if you don't have a tester I would recommend one as its so easy to plug it on and test, just for piece of mind.

How much and where could i get a tester from

  5. Thanks mate ill look into those suggestions

With regards to the compression if you mean is there any resistance in the pull cord when trying to start the saw then yes there is no difference to it as to seince ive had the saw

    Chears.

    Hi si

I dont work for anyone in the tree game full time any more, At the moment im a site manager at a primary school, but used to work for a company called IGM that was based in lye at first but then moved to alverley up bridgenorth way.

Im keeping my foot in the door by doing weekend jobs for timber tim, have same good times with the lads but always looking for someone who needs a hand on a weekend. ive got my own climbing gear and im always trying to get up a tree one way or another, I want to get some more tickets but as ever it a money thing. The ones im aiming for next are felling and working up a tree with rope and harness

How about you mate who do you work for?

  10. Hi to everyone hope all is well,

Just wanted to ask if there are any members on here that are in the west midlands area? The areas im thinking cover the Dudley, wolverhampton, stourbridge, birmingham areas like that.

  11. Hi guys i need help please with my stihl blower, It about 2/3 years old now but not had that much use out of it really.

Ive been using it the last coulpe of days fine until yesterday afternoon when just like that it started to run bad. As soon as i was getting to half way on the trigger it would die on me and id have to let go of the trigger to get the power back up, I left it over night with the air filter off and the spark plug out.

This morning i used it and it was fine, up until i ran out of fuel, When i come to start it up again after refueling, i couldnt get it to start up now the primer bubble is staying compressed and theres not any fuek coming into the engine.

Ive taken out the carb, fuel lines and both air and petrol filter and given them a clear out with an air line. Put everything back together but still the same problem is there.

No petrol is going into the engine and the primer bubble is not doing what it should.

Has anyone got any ideas please

    Thanks

    Gazf

  12. just my 2 cents wurth,.. out of all the saws that u could buy,why would u get a Solo? But if u have made up your mind then I hope that u get a good run out of it.Replacing the ring(s) can be a cheap way to get the compression right up again.bon chance.

    Hi mate

The reason why im going for the solo is because of the price, Ive looked for a second hand 020 and im looking to be paying £150 at least on ebay and with that i wont know the history on the stihl so i could end up with a faulty saw, but with the solo i know the saw well as i was there when my mate brought it from the shop and my mate hasnt used it much and hes selling it me alot chear than a 020 would cost me and with the way the money is at the moment ill take all the chances i can to save same money
