  1. I want to upgrade my chipper so i can crane feed with valmet. I like the hiezo and i think value for money and what it can do looks good. I have only heard good reports and i have a good relationship with ac price. Has anyone mounted one on a trailer behind tractor.

denton hall @ ilkley have one with a big valtra we hire it to chip all are crap its awsome ring them they will be able to give a few pointers

  2. you brought up faulty climbing gear, not me.

The bill is not the result of driving it with the head blow.

Do you actually read all my posts? As you seem to be having real difficulty understanding the situation??

Do you really need to shout all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont need to shout but, i,am not that f/ing stuiped to drive a motor with fxxked head gasket un like you ? To put in text you understand would you use a chain saw on neat fuel ? No you would not? No afence boy but ive been around longer than you have been working in this trade ?just how old are you you >?

  3. if only folk realized it is there to protect them

the cost is a downside i do admit

but compared to our safety and what we spend on kit, insurance ect

sorry am off to bed now can not be bothered

once again sorry get back on to insurance

    i give in

end of the day a pro tree guy will check there kit evry day ! If i find an ify bit of kit out with the grinder & bin it. As some folk think a fall can break a climbing rope yet to see or be proven wrong ropes dont fail under a mans wieght, evan mine / some folk out there might just remember the old 3,strand ? I, remember somthing called hemp rope ! Mice used to eat that? Thats in the old days ?

  4. the engine is worn, not from driving it with head blown, but from working hard for me over the last five years.

The only damage caused by driving it was the bent con rod, i rang alex who thought it was worth trying to drive it back, he did advised me not to turn it off.

Once they had taken the head off they would have seen the wear on the bores they would have recommended a rebuild anyway and it has been using a lot of oil in recent weeks.

Getting it recovered with a front mount chipper and timber tailer fitted would have been some what difficult.

But anyway thanks for your encouragement!! Your a real ray of sunlight :001_smile:

he would do knowing could put more cash in his pocket? Point being you took it too your yard off loaded all the kit & set off ! Point you take your rope out of kit bag you see it has a nick in it your groundy say thats safe to climb on do you still climb on it or do you think there is a safer option ?

  5. does anyone know where there is a decent "filter dealer" where i can just ring up and say i want a air filter for this that or the other make, model, or engine and they can just cross reference and supply.

It's service time for my gear and it's turning out to be a nightmare getting filters, i have:

    Kubota engined tractor ...

    Hatz engined.....mewp

    landrover defender

    deutz engined chipper

    hydraulic filter for thor splitter

    honda engined grinder

i just want to be able to ring, give the engine model number and get the filters or am i going to have to write down all the filter numbers and keep a record of them once cross referenced

last time i did it i just bought three of each but now i've run out.

try your local tractor shop or selling dealer ouch ?

  6. i have witnessed a cracking arboricultural company go bust today, they were run properly with all the relevent insurance and equipment etc etc. There was one big flaw in their biz that they couldnt actually control and that is part time tree loppers who operate on a part time basis with no insurance and crap non hse standard equipment - this means no overheads and they can work for bugger all.

What you actually said is that you do a fair bit of part time work and your post points out that you are currently working without insurance which in my opinion makes you a tree lopper and not an arborist no matter how good you actually are at your job :mad1:

My next comment is are you declaring your extra income to the taxman, this is another way that part timers keep there cost down and screw the proffesional buisnesses.

Tully i am sorry that you are getting the brunt of this but there are alot of people out there who will operate like this forever unless something within the industry is done. Like i said i applaude you for now getting the insurance that you must have to operate.

By the way try trust they are one of the best in the industry for insurance

not sure about trust no favours this month as for part/timer cash in hand no favours there either !

  7. ged to get back to the yard, get the chipper and trailer off. Filled her up with water and set of to Alex Prices. Got about 7 miles down the road, stopped to put more water in, had to turn her off as it was blowing water out faster than I could put it in!

Tried to restart her "BANG" hydraulicked!!:scared1:

Had to get an arctic to go to Alex's yard and pick up another mog then come down to us and drag mine onto the tailer.

Once up there they took the head off and found No6 con rod bent so had to take the engine out :scared1:

Once out they found the borers were quite stepped.

So now the engine is going for a rebuild:scared1:

To make matters worse 2 years ago the rear toque tube went and when they changed it they could see that the splines on the rear diff were very worn, so they fitted a new tube and I thought it would last around 6-12 months. So I've been very much on borrowed time.

As its going to have More power and to avoid more down time later, thats being done too.

This is just what I need just before Xmas and with a recession just round the corner!![ ONE THOUGHT, knowing it had blown the head gasket ,did common sense not tell you to it park & get it towed/carried to be repaired as appossed to driving a faulty engine ? been someone who works @ hights might have had the common not to drive said motor, thus saving sevreal thousonds s off much needed money ! sounds more like stupidity too me ? you wouldnt climb a tree on a faulty rope & harness would you ? or would you ? & they play apart in earning you living too ! self inflicked misery !

  8. Cheques made payable to Treeline, with a covering letter explaining this is a donation to Chris Headdon, so VAT is not payable on this money. Address is in this link

    http://www.treeline-treesurgery.co.uk/contact.aspx

Just to bump this thread dont forget if you wish to make a donation its not too late, and thanks on behalf of Treeline and Chris Headdon, best of luck for the future.

just picked up on this thread, what happend too the chap

  9. Tie them down and drop a nice big oak on the b*****ds, dont they realise there messing with people lively hoods.

they know what there doing & were & when to do it & what gear they need to do the rob job with, dont you worry ! & were to fence it off, closer to home than folk think ?:mad1::thumbdown:

  10. We hired a Predator 26 last year, it had very few hours on it and had just had its 2nd new cluthch fitted by the dealer.

We ground 8 or 9 stumps in the morning and the clutch was bunt out, that was taking our time, grinding 14" diameter ash and cherry stumps.

I personally think the machines are an excellent concept, just poorly constructed.

there now made in some far eastern country ! says it all
