Folks, to clarify the setups mentioned in our previous post. The 200mm 'soft' link is used without a mallion rapide. When this is doubled through the micro grab, the effective length is shortened to 100mm. The shorter soft link has to be attached to the micro grab using a mallion rapide. This gives an overall length of 140mm. See attached image for clarification. Don't forget, you can always use a prussik as the 'soft' link.

To all those interested in this thread. The advice given in respect of the karabiner was: To be wary of the Mongoose style 3 way (we have had reports of the gate sticking) The Springlock style 3 way can be difficult to operate with one hand Both of these were demonstrated in the showroom during the customer's visit. No advice was given with regard to not using 3 way karabiners for climbing. This is a legal requirement. Two methods of attaching the steel core flip line were discussed. It is a necessary requirement to have a 'weak' link in the equipment for the purposes of aerial rescue. It is a sacrificial item that can be cut with a blade. System 1 - Micro grab to a mallion rapide, connected to a 3 way karabiner using a webbing 'soft link'. System 2 - Micro grab connected to a 3 way karabiner using a 200mm webbing link. (Picture posted earlier in this thread) These soft links must be CE marked and rated to 22kN or more. Note: this is not the only way of attaching to a flip line. Regarging karabiner lubrication, steer clear of using WD40 unless there is no alternative. WD40 can (over time) damage internals on some karabiners which will lead to premature failure during routine LOLER inspections. Graphite powder is the perfect solution, however PTFE lubricant also suffices.
