  1. Hi there. I have the SJ1 and I was. Wondering what the replaceable pin does. I am soon to replace my one. As I run on 11mm rope and it has warn the body out around the base of the device. It seems a shame that such an expensive device where so easily. I've a full-time tree surgeon and I have only had the SJ for a year. I do love the device works properly.

  2. Thanks all for the comments I think it may have gone off subject a little. But that’s a forum for you. I currently work 4 days a week. So going to try and fill my 5-days & weekend with freelance work if possible. Then go from there. It would seem that the work at the min is a bit up and down. So best too play it safe.

  3. Hi all.

Am looking into working for myself as a freelance climber and could do with some advice. I have been climbing for about 13 years, and not to blow my own trumpet, but feel that I am good at my job.

The money as we know is not the best at the moment working on the books. So I thought I would try going freelance.

Q1 is there anything else I need? Like insurance or other?

Q2. Is it as simple as just phoning round and getting work that way?

Making a name for your self?

Q3. I have looked at some of the threads and it would seem £110 to £120 is the going rate. And as I have my own climbing kit, would this price be about right.

    My tickets include

CS 30,31,,32,33,37,38,39,40,41. Plus ND Arb and a ND in Conservation.

I am Coventry west midland based.

Thanks for any advice it is much appreciated.

  4. just a quick one. what length rope do you all use for your short rope. i have a nice long rope but am a bit reluctant to chop a bit off the end. was thinking about getting a 20m bit. nothing worse than reeling 45m through the tree.

  5. Keep your snow Stevie...its real heavy rain here hopefully will stop by the morn as we have 20 mature limes to lift and thin!!

please don't tell me that is what i have to look forward to tomorrow. my rope is all nice and dry and you what me to put it up some wet old lime trees. not good. pray for sunshine .

  6. i have had the tree motion for over two year now and i climb ever working day. and it has stood time well. very confutable if your prepaid to spend time adjusting it. very well made. and your can accessorize it as much as you like.

    hope this helps mate.

  7. I would have tried it today but only had some baling twine left to climb with after you boys had stripped the lorry kit box bare!

I have a nice Chestnut to sectional fell tomorrow you can try it on that - dont think you'll get much time for videos though!

grate mate. if its a dead as that ash tree you sent me to do today then it will be so so much fun. nothing like a good take down though.

  9. I know, it has proper s£!t me up:scared1:, and hopefully i have learnt this time, and it wont be happening again. And i do listen to you but what I was doing was being lazy with my positioning rather than not listening, but in the future I'll be taking more notice of when bbb says take your time, and of what you say.

nice one joe. i think i forget some times how much pressure there is on the younger climber too impress . you will soon be snapping at my feet as i get slower in my old age. AH AH
