@Paul  i have a set of pics for that sort over nearly 20 yrs showing certain reductions and the known costs,  so my customer can de ide if their gonna wallop it three or 4 times at x£00 or have a propsr job i wont need to come back on. Birch will regrow back to same height in 3 or 4 yrs - good example in my neighbours garden, waste of money. OR start its decline and removal in the end. By going this way you get an informed customer and repeat business, the idiots can keep wasting money, sadly not in yr pocket but thats the way it works.  K

I wish I'd thought of that, its maddening to see a good tree ruined, which can sometimes happen.

We do try, but for many its all down to the price.

It is horribly when you try to talk your customer out of their mindset of 'pollard my Silver Birch' or 'just take the top out of the Beech tree' then you drive past three weeks later to see it done.

Although I do get a little satisfaction when the public decline a quote then phone a while later to ask if you could finish the job and/or clear up all the brash left on the lawn, because the other contractor wanted extra to clear up !

Advert is good, all the right stuff with no nonsense.

Had a look at your website, it's very nice. I like the little logos for all the services you do. Very clear layout and nice details.

When i get qualified i'll give you a call if you're still looking for people. By that time i'll have all my own kit too. So far been relatively unsuccessful in job hunting.

    Sounds perfect to me. 👌🏻

(But then, i want to live in the French Alps surrounded by snow and mountains.)

Thank you for the feed back.

How far down the line are you with training, qualifications, experience etc ?

  4. I appreciate the feedback, I was beginning to wonder.

I guess its not surprising given the lack of apprenticeships being offered and the ever increasing complications on actually doing the job.

It makes me wonder what our industry will become. Situations like this isn't good news for the industry. It will push the price up and open the door to unqualified, unskilled, uninsured poor tree work.

As a business I feel let down by the Arb Association, they haven't supported the Colleges in the issues surrounding the apprenticeships, and I haven't found any evidence of them promoting our trade to anyone other than to tree surgeons.

  9. its just the cheek of it, the lads carried the saws down the passage way into the rear garden and put them on the patio to the rear of the house, out of sight, then got on with the job, some scum bag walked up the drive down the ally and into the garden, lifted it whilst they worked at the end of the garden. We are talking 20meters away max! it was only a terraced house garden.

  10. We were out on site today in Cambridge and we had a Stihl MS201T stolen at approximately 10.20.

The thief entered the rear garden along our customers driveway whilst we were working within the very same rear garden stole the saw.

The police have been informed, the serial number is 175900042

If anyone hears of anything please email on [email protected] reward if returned.

    Many thanks

  14. I like your idea hope it frys them alive,

I got done twice last year, lost my chipper first, they cut it of the back of my van out side my house and then sold it back to me. Then i had four saws stollen from site, the gits watched and waited till i drove into the next paddock to empty the chip and my mate went for a piss behind a tree, they jumped the fence, ran in and grabbed them.

If you have problems with the power of your electric fence gear shop around, my mate uses one he bought on the internet (from Oz or New Zealand I think) , it powers 3 wires around 10 acres, and still knocked me to the floor some distance from the battery.
