  1. SIP equal Shite Improper Protection

    Stretch equal Seriously Tough Really Everything Tree surgeons Could Have.

    Ha ha

    No there all pants really when you think a 200t works at full tick 24ms and the class 1's 99% of us use only work up to 20ms so in that 4meters of chain can do you.

  2. busted my arse i was using it to proove what i was saying in words you understand if you thought i write all that bullshit then your a mug haha.

    I cut trees im no physicist ah hahahaha.

    Im sorry kids i thought you would have guessed that one straight away.

    Tony your a right fairy haha lol

    dont get moody im only playing imvho.

  3. 1 N = (1 kg)(1 m/s²) or 1 N = 1 kg.m/s²

    What is Weight?

    Weight is a measure of force. The measured force is gravity acting on a mass. It is expressed in Newtons (SI) or Pounds (English)

    Force = mass x acceleration

    Weight = mass x acceleration due to gravity or W=mg

    Where: W is Weight, m is mass, and g is acceleration due to gravity

    Approximate values for gravity on earth are:

    g = 9.807 m/s² (SI units)

    g = 32.17 ft/s² (English units)

    The weight of an object is the gravitational force which is exerted on that object which causes it to accelerate downward at the acceleration due to gravity, or g. So, we can write for the weight of a 1 kg mass:

    W = mg

    W = (1 kg)(9.807 m/s²)

    W = 9.807 N

    The weight of a 1 kg mass is 9.807 Newtons (usually rounded off to 9.81)

    Much of our confusion with Kilonewtons is our common misunderstandings of mass and weight caused by carelessly interchanging the two systems of measurement. We commonly refer to how much we weigh in pounds or kilograms. For example, I weight 167 pounds or 75.9 kilograms. While we all understand what this means, we don't realize we are comparing a measurement of force (pounds) to a measurement of mass (kilograms). To be accurate in the IS system, we would state our weight in Newtons as 744 N (0.74 kN).

    I arrive at this by using the formula W=mg

    W = 75.9kg x 9.807m/s²

    Weight = 744 kg.m/s² or 744 Newtons

    While my mass would not change, my weight would be different on the moon (27.8 lbs.), Mars (63.293 lbs), or in the space shuttle (0 lbs.). The missing or assumed value in our statements is the attraction of the force of gravity on my body. (Just for the record, my mass in the English system would remain constant at 5.202 slug)

    What does the 25 kN rating on my carabiner mean?

    1 kN (kiloNewton) = 1000 N

    25kN stamped on a product would be equivalent to 25000 N

    I kN = 224 LB

    25 kN = 5600 lbs of force

    There is no conversion. A kiloNewton is a thousand kilogram metres per second squared -- 1000 (kg * m) / (s^2).

    If what you mean is a kiloNewton to kg * cm / s^2, the conversion is 1kN = 100 000 kg * cm / s^2

    I just got the calc wrong typing fast

    says it right there

  4. I understand that bob, what if I want it to carry a load. A loader tractor with 8 ton trailer sure takes the effort out of humping away a big tree. Can I just stick a few quid of white diesel in for when I'm on the road.. the tractor is used for 95% agricultural.. I don't think that would be aceptable. Do we have to run the tractor on white for the rest of the time? Should it be classed as non agricultural? So what do I have to do to operate within the law.

    You can use your tractor to travel on the road with red but if you carry loads of any kinds you need white diesel if they catch you they will bend you over take your pocket money and slap you haha.

  5. Ill get some on here when i do some work haha.

    I just enjoy watching other peoples styles then take there good points an add them to my style.

    Ok reggie i will look at them give an inch they want a mile lol.

  6. He we are all trying to educate the public and you tell them that a light reduction is topping? there is no hope.

    Here is where problems form you need to tell people whats good and bad not fuse the two.

    If some one wants it topped i either offer a reduction or pollard or remove the tree plant a new one.

    or tell them what topping means is a reduction of the canopy not giving it a flat top but hey let em get on with it the more people cock them up the easier it is for me to look good.

  7. Im sure that is deception imo.

    But i have never topped a tree in my life only furs i dont see how you can get away with topping a blind man can see it looks shite. I always reduce but i will do 30% reductions have had no ill affects so far even councils are happy they ask for 25% but were splitting hairs.

    I will do as the customers ask within what i believe is acceptable but as long as you know what your saying alot of people will accept what you say some will just use another company its a balance.

  8. The pulley will deffo increase the load on the hitch. Try a different hitch, as the icicle does tend to bind when sharply loaded. It's all trial and error in finding what suits us as individuals. After 15 years of running around in trees I'm still not happy with any setup 100%

    Petzel pulley is ok, but it does have a poor bending radius on the rope. I prefer a larger one. I'd also remove the krab out of the system and replace it with a maillon. Less to damage and less chance of side loading.

    So what have you found suits you and do you make it retrievable have you got a pic of your set up

  9. well 30kn is used to measure 3000kgs so ill stick with it if i ask for a 29.4kn rating rope ill be told to nob off.

    And stopping a moving object will increase its snatch weight amount of force depends on speed and weight and snatch ie no give more force some give in the system will reduce impact loading.

    500kgs falling 20ft on 3 tonne rope will exceed the ropes limit and may break hence we use 8tonne rope for 500kgs eg.

    But the answer is a kilonewton is another measure for kgs 1kn equals 100kgs not exact im sure but 99%

  10. See that attitude would equal an unemployed surgeon to me even councils ask for big reductions and most of the tpo's i have done in the past want 25% so you dont do them either. But in all honsesty how can you really tell 20% from 30% do you use a ruler.

  11. Totally agree with what your saying you are saving more energy.

    Pete i use a cambium saver to protect the tree less friction was an after thought for me i just found that using the pulley increased my load at the friction hitch and my hand when tending It may be my hitch is not yet perfected to suit this difference in style

    But i only have myself to teach me everyone else uses old styles to climb which i hate.

    What pulleys are you using i have a petzl fixed pulley new england rope oh and i used a crab to secure the saver thus nonretreivable with a pulley any ideas.

  12. Yeah removing some friction is good but you still need a little to help hold yourself while you tend the slack.

    I found that a pulley increased my holding weight to an uncomfortable amount to much.

    I weight 80 odd kgs so i was having to hold all my weight which gets tiring.

    Just using the cambium saver was fine but maybe my hitch is to long takes forever finding out better systems
