  1. Dude, I use a Cadwell (not sure of the spelling but i can get it right if you like?) 7lbs hickory handle. I prefer a Ash handle though. I have been splitting logs for the last 30 years and in honesty prefer an Axe because these days just get nice stuff to split! I use my maul only on some of twisted stuff. I was a tree surgeon for thirty years ( now a Arb Officer) my two sons are now Tree Surgeons working for Gristwood and Toms I still do a little bit of tree work myself. I have just ordered a new Axe... Bacho 4 1/2 lbs, looks nice. I have Lott's af Axes, my favourite is made by Adgor, not sure if they still make em? All the best... Mark

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
