Hi all, I have received an email from the local council stating they would allow me to climb if I provide the following: Proof of qualifications, risk assessment, personal and public liability insurance. I can provide all apart from I do not currently have personal and public liability insurance as I am covered through my current employer. I have been toying with the idea of getting it anyway as I have a few small jobs I have been asked to do and just thought it’s better safe than sorry.. Would anybody please be able to point me in the right direction of decent company’s to take a look at etc? Thanks again.

Thanks to everyone who has taken to time to reply. I will be taking on board everyone’s comment’s and getting out there and climbing. OP was more to gain insight into other peoples personal experiences etc and I will not be climbing anywhere which will put people at risk. (Common sense) thanks again 👍

Thanks for the reply, I won’t be planning of climbing anywhere public as in parks etc.. Going to approach farmers land etc.. I do have a couple of jobs to do but I won’t be doing them until I have the correct insurance etc.. appreciate you taking the time to respond, thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. Dead wooding etc seems to be the way to go. i am fortunate to live in an area with plenty of decent trees. Seems like from most peoples reply’s just need to put my self out there and ask around. Thanks again 👍

Hi all, Fairly new to the industry I have been climbing around 6 months. I am looking to do some climbing out of work to practise different limb walks etc.. However I am struggling to find places to go climb as in without permission from landowner. Can anybody point me in the right direction on how to obtain permission to climb or has anyone “practised” outside of work themselves in the past? Many thanks, Lee. North/West Yorkshire based.
