  1. Big thanks and gratitude to those who came back to this ancient thread to help me out. It's great to be able to find help when it's needed. Cheers!!
  2. Great suggestion. I'll strip down the old one and match it. Thanks.
  3. Hi. I'm VERY late to this party but I have EXACTLY the same problem as the original poster (Stihl MS230 from 2002 with a Walbro WT286A carb). It's always been a bitch to start and keep running and I've tried various fixes over the years, even sending it to a Stihl dealer at one point. I've decided on a new attempt at getting it running well. Problem now is that the local Stihl dealer ONLY wants to sell me a Walbro 215 for a lot of money (286 no longer available) and there are no carb renovation kits available for the 286 on any of the multiple searches I've tried. So, like the original poster I'm experimenting with a replacement 215 copy from Ebay. My worry with blocking off the primer system is that this is an experiment. If I can't get it running better I'll be refitting the WT286, and would like to have the primer option in working order.... So, if anyone is still around on this thread, two questions please: 1. How would one block off the primer system temporarily without damage? 2. Does anyone know where a renovation kit for the WT286A could be obtained?
