  1. I was fortunate to get a drop off of cherry. How long should I expect to be seasoning it for before burning? Thanks!
  2. Oh yeah, definite vinegar smell! Thanks that’s great to know
  3. Thanks both - appreciate the guidance
  4. I have been offered a mix of hard + soft wood from my local golf course (felled between 6 months - 3 years ago). What would be a fair donation amount to offer? It would be a 4x4 load amount I would be collecting myself. Thanks!
  5. Thanks both! Seems like Sycamore is the best bet. Does it all seem the same species in your opinion?
  6. Still learning! Any help identifying? Thank you
  7. I know in an ideal world the answer is £0, but can I ask members would they would feel comfortable paying for this amount of unprocessed oak? I will be collecting myself. Thanks!
  8. @Steven P can I ask which electric saw you use?
  9. Any idea? I thought maybe Ash? It’s very heavy! Thank you.
  10. Apologies if this has been asked before (I couldn’t find it when searching forum). As a newbie to this I’m looking to upgrade from a corded to cordless electric chainsaw. 16” bar, or longer, would be good. I’ll be using this at home largely to process logs for my stove. I hoped to not spend more than £200. what would people suggest I look out for - either new or preowned. thanks again.
  11. Now I’m looking for them, there are black buds on a number of those log types.
  12. Possibly Ash then? 🤞🏼🤞🏼
  13. Thank you all - much appreciated. (What do I know!) but can I double check the rough barked wood is definitely not ash? I noticed it has these black buds on some side stalks which I thought might indicate so.
